Denise B. says, "5 out of 5 stars! I started training with Tyler last July 2023 and it’s been really wonderful. I feel so much stronger. I never thought I would be able to keep up with this, but Tyler is flexible with the scheduling and motivates me to make time and put in the work. He’s also a really great guy personally and makes the sessions that much more enjoyable. I’m making progress slowly - I’m older, 58, and have never trained before, but the mobility and strength I have now compared to last summer is like night and day. I had also badly injured my knee last year and I’m pretty much back to normal with Tyler’s help. If anyone is considering giving this a try with Tyler, go for it. You wont regret it."See more

Sundari C. says, "Ana has been personal trainer for over 2 years. I went to her when I was overweight and completely out of shape. I could not even lift my legs to step onto a sidewalk without pain. My thighs felt like jelly and I had almost no strength below my waist. Ana listened to all my complaints about my body aches and assessed me with a few basic exercises and strength training tests. She also realized my lack of muscle strength and my discomfort towards exercises. She curated a list of exercises that helped me get started and gather strength from my legs and get me moving more. From that point, i have come to a place where I have gained a lot more muscle strength and have the ability to move through a whole day of teaching for 8 hours without feeling pain or discomfort. I am a work in progress and she is the best guiding force behind me."See more

Arabia P. says, "I enjoyed having a trainer I could afford! At first, it took me a while to get used to logging my food and activities since I am in a different city. However, because I did, Ulyssa was able to give me feedback (more of this, less of this, etc). She gives so much encouragement and she's tough on me at the same time - LOL! She always reminded me that I was human and encouraged community through the group chat. In fact, the group chat was one of my favorite parts. We are all on journey to improve our lifestyle habits and being remote, I needed a group of people to talk with about my success and struggles (it's not the same when you tell your coworkers, friends, and families about your struggle when they aren't working towards the same changes as you). The changes she helped me create made me join a running group and now I'm running a half marathon! I knew I had to make food adjustments, but I didn't know how. When I showed her my training schedule for the half marathon and I asked how running would affect my previous meal plans, she made adjustments and I feel great. Also, I have a new appreciation for the scale (weird, right?). I know that my numbers go up and and down and I hated seeing that on the scale. But because I changed my habits, I know if I have too much sodium one day, my weight will come down in a day or two. Ulyssa taught me that weighing myself daily (yes, daily!) was not to discourage me, but to be more conscious of not only my food choices, but my activities and movement. I know that when the program ends, I will have a strong foundation that keeps me on the right path of my health goals! I recommend the training, even if you're remote because there is a way to stay accountable! I needed someone to help me with the previous pitfalls that have caused me to quit SO MANY TIMES. Now, I'm more confident and have inspired 2 coworkers and 1 friend to work on their health goals as well! Do it! Sign up and do it!"See more

Annie Lam says, "Will Cho is the real deal. My partner and I met him in early October because we rarely if ever exercised and had gained a lot of weight. We desperately needed help! Will not only built us a thorough weight training program that targeted all of our muscle groups, he tracks every workout and our performances so we can consistently improve. For reference, Im a petite woman that could deadlift maybe 60 pounds when I first met him. I can now deadlift 185 pounds. Additionally, my partner wanted insight into the diet side, Will gave him the latest science and helped him lose 20+ pounds in a few short months. But what impresses me most is his keen eye to form, his tracking and use of data to ensure we are safely progressing, and lastly, his passion and motivation to continually learn and never stay stagnant. Hes an all-around great human so I highly recommend training with Will Cho!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.

How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Shop around to find the right type of boot camp class and the right instructor for you.
