Theresa W. says, "Nate was an amazing resource going beyond normal contractor services. I am a very indecisive, hard to convey what I like person. He always offered multiple options explaining the pros/cons. Since we all worked from home, he was also very communicative about when something loud was going to happen so I could plan work calls around it. He also kept the area very clean and tools to a minimum so we could still cook and use the living room each night. First I needed a railing that actually met code requirements: - I did not like any of the standard railing kits at your bigger home improvement stores so Nate worked with me to custom design a railing that met the industrial look I wanted. - He offered multiple ideas and kept me updated with pics throughout the design process. - He immediately made recommendations to reuse the posts to cut down on my costs. Next I needed new flooring: - The flooring was different between kitchen and living room and also different heights. Nate fixed this flawlessly that we can no longer tell where the original threshold was. - While replacing flooring at the door, Nate found an issue with the threshold and found a solution so the entry outside stopped flooding issues I previously had during torrential storms. - I surprised Nate with a new light and he was quick to accept a change order without rescheduling install at a later time and fit within the current job. I would highly recommend Nate. As a single older women, I have dealt with contractors just looking to take advantage and assume I don't have the knowledge or foresight to compare costs. Nate was very open in estimates, discussions around what is needed versus upselling, and ensuring work was done correctly and at a fair price."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
