Apollonia V. says, "Transformational Training Experience with Chris Villa After having two babies, I faced one of the biggest challenges of my life—losing the weight I had gained during pregnancy. Like many mothers, I struggled to find the time, energy, and motivation to focus on myself. That’s when I decided to work with Chris Villa as my personal trainer, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Chris is nothing short of an exceptional trainer. From day one, he demonstrated an unmatched level of professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care for my goals. His expertise in fat loss, combined with his ability to tailor workouts to my individual needs, was instrumental in helping me shed nearly 80 pounds. But it wasn’t just about the weight loss—Chris gave me the confidence to rebuild my strength, reclaim my fitness, and truly feel like myself again. What sets Chris apart is his commitment to going above and beyond for his clients. He didn’t just focus on workouts—he created a holistic plan that included customized meal guidance, mindset coaching, and strategies to stay consistent even during the busiest times. His encouragement was unwavering, and he celebrated every small victory along the way, which kept me motivated and inspired. Chris’s training sessions were always challenging yet enjoyable. He pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way possible, showing me that I was capable of so much more than I believed. His passion for helping others is evident in everything he does, and he never hesitated to adjust or refine the plan to ensure I was making progress safely and effectively. Thanks to Chris, I’ve not only transformed my body but also gained a renewed sense of self-worth and discipline. His guidance and support have had a lasting impact on my life, and I am forever grateful for his dedication to my journey. If you’re considering working with a personal trainer, I cannot recommend Chris Villa highly enough. He is not just a trainer—he is a partner in your success, a motivator, and a coach who genuinely cares about your well-being."See more

Jeff R. says, "I didn't get overweight and out of shape overnight and I wasn't going to be thin after a few workouts. I needed help to turn things around. I needed to find a trainer who would be there with me and help me reach my goals. If you are considering what type of trainer will meet their needs let me share why I recommend Steve over other options. I needed a trainer who would be there while I workout. Not someone that I text when I workout and send pictures. Steve is right there, just like a trainer should be. Even though we are in 2 different states, he is right there through the entire workout, which has many positives. I can work out at home. - I don't have to go to the gym. This makes me more comfortable not being around a bunch of people and saves me time. It is amazing how challenging a workout can be without using any weights. He watches what I can and can't do and makes adjustments so I don't hurt myself (especially my back) but also is pushing me so I am challenged. He provides constant feedback and encouragement throughout the workout. He keeps track of reps and progress while I focus on form and breathing. In our last workout I did 20 reps of something and he mentioned, in our first workout I couldn't even do 1. Hiring a trainer means you are "investing in yourself" but you don't need to spend more to get more. I couldn't be happier about my decision for a trainer."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.

How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Shop around to find the right type of boot camp class and the right instructor for you.
