Although there was a misunderstanding, I was honest and told you that what you thought was broken was not. I demonstrated to you how to properly operate/use the striker, and it is working. I adjusted the final cost, and you received a partial refund for the services rendered (which you did not mention in your heartfelt review), and I extend my apologies for your dissatisfaction. The thing is I explain to Alvin that I knew how to lite the fireplace and he was called out about a broken ignite button which he did not replace. Nor did he do anything else, but continue to give his advice. He then charged me $185. I paid him, he left but I called him back after I researched to found out the average rate of fireplace Maintenance is $149 to compare. Below what he charged, and that was to be actual work done. I let him know he was way above what ever the average is for advice and I was very unhappy. There was know misunderstanding. it is an outright ripoff!!
My item was broken. I had it in my hands which is the reason for visit, but he would not fix it, but want me to pay for his un-needed "advice" as he calls it.
I will say that what I thought was a Professional telling me that I could leave the pilot on and lit, and it would be ok, was news to me, but not an $185 worth!
