Amy C. says, "Review of Kelby with Diamond K ~ PROJECT: Remodeled bathroom which involved removing and installing new tile, installing drop-in shower in master bath, extensive sheetrock work, custom shelving work, plus painted, caulked and finished the general aesthetics to make it super eye-friendly. QUALITY OF WORK: impeccable quality, attention to detail because he actually has a bit of a designer eye. When I asked for something that couldn’t be realistically done, he offered other options (one of which I chose) that turned out to be more appealing than even my original idea. His custom wood and shelf work is outstanding. He installed everything with care, centered the items and make sure they were leveled and visually pleasing. It is obvious Kelby has had quite a bit of experience in his career and I would highly recommend him for projects from installation of items, to paint, to intricate tile work. I’m very happy with his work on my project and I am so glad he was not only patient with me and all the changes I made, but respect of the time I set aside; if he was coming at an agreed time, he was professional and arrived on time. I actually used home for some side work too, like assembly of prefab structures and fixing numerous issues (even fixed dishwasher as well when I was in a pinch). PROFESSIONALISM: I was impressed by how he treated my home (prevented unnecessary mess, and when finished, it appeared not a worker was here). He was very respectful to me. He was polite and remained friendly with this extensive project in my home, even though I changed my mind multiple times, had several previous owner problems (DIY failures) and just surprises of home hiccups along the way. I was a bit anxious the finished product would not turn out like my vision, but began to relax once I saw the project come to life. Several times he stayed overtime, working until 7 PM on an evening so I didn’t have to wait longer for completion, or make plans to be at home on another day. He obviously has a good work ethic, and it is a pride you don’t always see anymore. I highly recommend his work and also, I was grateful I could leave him unattended to work while I was away with no security issue."See more

What tools do you need to repair drywall?

To repair drywall, you need up to several tools and materials. For example, you may need a drill to insert drywall screws and boreholes. A drywall saw or utility knife is perfect for cutting and shaping drywall, and don’t forget your tape measure and pencil. Drywall and taping knives are also essential.

For materials, you’ll likely need construction adhesive, drywall tape, drywall screws, masking tape and joint compound.

If you don’t have these tools — and you don’t want to spend money on them — contact a drywall repair professional instead of doing it yourself.

How do I find a good drywall contractor?

The best way to find a good drywall contractor is by searching for the top-rated contractors near you on Thumbtack. View their ratings, and read their reviews to see how they did on past drywall projects. After you found a few contractors you like, ask them for price quotes. For more tips on how to hire contractors, read our in-depth guide.

Who do I hire to install or repair drywall?

A general contractor, handyman or a drywall contractor (or company) can usually install and repair drywall. It’s recommended that you call one of these types of pros when your drywall needs to be repaired, such as after a plumber or electrician has completed their work.

Look up local pros online and compare their profiles, paying extra attention to their ratings, reviews, experience and list of services. Contact three to five pros to get cost estimates for your project.

Do drywall contractors need a license?

Pros may need to obtain a license to fix and install drywall. It’s always worth checking with your local government about whether a drywall company or contractor has to be licensed before they work on your project.

Do drywall contractors do insulation?

A drywall contractor focuses on drywall. If you want to install insulation (or upgrade your existing installation), you should hire an insulation contractor. It's possible that your drywall contractor may be able to offer basic insulation services, but for more advanced insulation installation (such as spray foam), go with a professional who specializes in this.
