I would give John 10 stars if I could! He is incredibly patient, kind, and an excellent guitar teacher. I’m 30 years old and am a brand new guitar student trying to play for the first time. From day one, John has taken the time and care to teach me very specific nuances for how to hold and play guitar. I’ve only had a few lessons so far, but I feel I’ve already come a long way. John is always very encouraging and I’m always looking forward to my next lesson with him. Thank you John! 🙌

He is very good with our youngest son. Now he practices most days and loves his new guitar. John is so great that we decided to start lessons with our oldest son as well.

Have been playing guitar on and off for 5-6 years but was entirely self taught and lacking in many of the basics that I should have learned when I first started. While I can somewhat improvise, play full songs on both electric and acoustic, and know my basic scales, I just found myself starting to hit a wall where I wished for more direct instruction without having to jump from YouTube video to video to find one that sticks out. I tried lessons in the past, but my old teacher only gave me written tabs for songs and didn’t teach me about the actual theory behind anything. As I’ve gotten more serious about playing in the last 2 years or so, it was time to find a teacher who could pinpoint and fill in all of those theory gaps that were holding me back from improvising, writing my own music, and from confidently performing in a band. I’m only 3 weeks into lessons, but I could tell from day 1 that John is the guy that I needed! John is clearly extremely knowledgeable in all areas of the guitar and with musical theory in general, and he was immediately able to identify the top areas for me to work on. He gave me a custom packet to work through based on my current level, and we’ve been plugging away at the material each week. Not only does John believe in teaching from a foundational aspect of music, but he has also given me lots of great tips on if I were to perform live and record in the studio one day. He told me that his goal is for every student to be able to record their own music by the time that they are done working with him, and I have no doubt I will get there one day with his help! It’s almost overwhelming working with a musician as experienced as John because it will make you realize that even if you’ve been playing for years on your own time, you haven’t even scratched the surface! Whether you want to learn how to play simple songs, play live with a band, improvise in all genres, or record and write your own music, John is your guy!
