Reading and Writing Tutoring

  • Serves Upper Manhattan, NY
Hi there! I'm Amogh, an undergraduate student from Duke University/Dartmouth College who also works as an ACT/SAT tutor and college consultant. I began working as an ACT/SAT tutor in 2019, and as a college consultant since 2021. In the past 5 years, I have worked with over 80 students, each with unique narratives, goals, and academic/extracurricular experiences. So... why should you hire me? To be transparent, I do not see myself as a purely “professional” tutor or counselor. If that’s what you’re looking for, I’d urge you to find someone who works full-time in the business and has decades of experience. I view myself more as a mentor, a sounding board, and someone who genuinely understands what this process feels like—because I’ve been there not too long ago. As a university senior myself, I bring both a fresh perspective and a genuine understanding of what students face. Now, that doesn't mean I don't get results. To this date, I have never had a student or parent unsatisfied with my services, as evidenced by my perfect 5.0 rating on Thumbtack. After working with me, all of my SAT/ACT students have improved their test scores and met their desired score ranges. Students of mine have gone on to attend universities such as Yale, Dartmouth, Cornell, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, UC Berkeley, and the University of Washington. I work with each of my students to make custom plans that best fit their personal lives and academic goals, whether it's for the SAT/ACT or for the entire college application process. More importantly, my youth and recent experiences with school allow me to connect with my students and help them feel more aided in the process. So, if you're looking for someone with a strong academic pedigree, a track history of driving positive change, and recent, relevant experiences with standardized tests and college admissions, look no further! I am committed to helping your child succeed -- let’s work together to unlock their full potential! Please feel free to reach out to discuss how I can best support your child’s educational journey!See more

Meme A. says, "I’ve been working with Alex for the past few months, and I can’t recommend him enough! Even though I’m already mostly fluent in English, I occasionally mispronounce words. Now that I’m looking to expand my career, I know it’s time to focus on improving my pronunciation. Alex is able to pinpoint exactly what I need to work on and tailors the lessons to fit my needs. He is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and an excellent teacher. Alex takes the time to understand my specific goals and adapts the lessons to my learning style. He’s always flexible with my schedule, accommodating my availability and even rescheduling when necessary. His approach makes learning enjoyable, and I’ve already noticed significant improvement in my pronunciation and confidence. If you’re looking for a dedicated, professional, and supportive accent coach, Alex is the best! Highly recommend!"See more
