Consumers "Read before hiring Illinois Sewer and Drain. 6-14-22 Joel came out and did my place. I asked if he was a licensed plumber, and had workcomp insurance and he stated he was licensed and had workcomp insurance and that he will provide me copy, so I allowed him to do the work. Joel appeared to be a nice guy but however, but he had to leave and he didn't finish the job it's now 5-23-23. I started to see a few plumbing problems and started to do some research, Joel is not a licensed plumber nor at that time was Illinois Sewer and Drain licensed or sponsored by a plumber, which he falsely advertise that he was. Joel was never licensed nor was his company, however, he was using another person's license, Joel also was not honest I asked before I hired him did he have workmanscomp insurance for him and his employees he stated yes. However, that was false information. This guy was doing illegal plumbing work by using another person's license around 6/22. "Please be advised- If a contractor comes and does work on your home," by the Attorney General "they must have workcomp insurance", if they get hurt while doing your job you will be responsible for that injury and can make you pay for the doctor's visit and damages. It's very important to ask for a copy of their workcomp insurance and license if they are not on that license don't allow them to do the work no matter how inexpensive they are.
Illinois state law permits a plumber to use another person's license and do plumbing work on a home without having a license, a licensed plumber must check the work. If you had your home worked on in prior to August of 2022 from Joel you can be entitled to get back all of your money and damages. My attorney will be filing a complaint with idhp inspector and contacting Thumbtack to request an internal investigation and I will provide documentation, Thumbtack should not allow non-licensed plumbers and allow plumbers without workmanscomp work on your home.
