This photographer should listen to the customers desires. Write down their desires, better communication, like maybe a phone call with them.
I didn't actually go through with the engagementphoto shoot because he didn't listen or communicate very well. Let me tell you how...
I hired him and gave him a deposit to do our engagementphotos and because of the reviews, I trusted he was good. I had to call him since he only was texting. I let him know my specific desires of wanting our shoot to be in the forest in the evening so we can get shots of the sun setting through the trees. I let him know I wanted it to be around 6:30 because the sun sets at 8:35. (Mind you, per his contract we only have 2 hours with him before the price goes up to $100 per our after that) He kept suggesting the beach or a park and for the shoot to be earlier like 2 or 3 but I told him again I wanted the forest in the evening and was animate and clear about it. I also let him know I moved from California and didn't know the area whatsoever. He said "I have the perfect place for the shoot" and that 6:30 was ok, not to worry. So a few weeks go by and he again starts suggesting the beach earlier in the day, I reminded him of my desires for the forest in the evening. Then the day that we were supposed to do the actual shoot, he AGAIN suggests the park and beach. This time I called him and asked him if he remembers me telling him SEVERAL times about the forest and he said "sorry, I have so many customers I get confused" like really???? What kind of excuse is that? Write it down for God's sake. Then he AGAIN suggests to do it earlier and at this point I am frustrated and wondering if he just wants more time (money) or he doesn't know what he's doing or doesn't have the right camera, so I asked him. His response to me was "whatever you want it's fine, but it's not my fault". What??? Who says that? I said, what's not your fault, he said "it's not my fault of its dark, because I have done shoots in the forest at that time and it's too dark". Which by the way is BS, I live deep in the forest AND I am a photographer myself. So either he's scared of the dark or just doesn't know what he's doing. I sent him several pictures of what I wanted and he suggested a "botanical garden". Really? How many times do I have to tell this guy I want it in the forest? So I tell him AGAIN, and he tells me to find a place and let him know, I reminded him that I have no idea where to go and that is why I asked you and you told me you have the "perfect place". THEN he sends me two pictures of another couple he shot and one of them was indoors and the other was of a bridge! Like what in the actual FUT??!!! So at this point I just tell him that I am going to hire someone else because he is just not getting it and isn't listening. He kept my deposit which in my opinion is just plain cheap and shows the level of class.
