Steve was very responsive to our needs. 2 other contractors said we needed to replace our AC unit. Within a very short time he determined it was a simple electrical fix. Was very thorough and honest - even sent pics and videos of the issue. Highly recommend S&M HVAC!

We hired Atlantic coast contractors to replace our hvac system along with many other issues involved and they were wonderful to work with. I was very overwhelmed with everything we had going on and John was the only contractor to make the effort to explain everything that needed to be done in a way so that we could understand why they needed to be done and how to fix the problems. John and his team are extremely knowledgeable and were able to make a complicated job flow seamlessly. Not only do they do great work and use great products, but he really wants you to get the most for your money. John's truly a great guy and great at what he does, you can't go wrong hiring him and his team. He did such an amazing job with the hvac system that we hired him to renovate our bathroom as well. Atlantic Coast Contractors can do it all!! We highly recommend John and his team!

John replaced our 25+ year old furnace/AC just in time for the hot summer months...all in one day! He also fixed our leaky duct work, made it more efficient, installed 2 more returns, and a ton of extras to get our HVAC running perfectly! Can’t say enough good stuff about the experience and the value of having a pro like John improve our home. He took away the old system and found cracks in the heat exchanger...so very glad we got it replaced when we did!
If you need your HVAC replaced, I would 100% recommend calling John and Atlantic Coast Contractors to give you a quote.

Knowing nothing about HVAC, I read a lot of reviews before deciding to contact M&J Services. I wanted a contractor whom I could trust. Mike was super responsive, was willing to accommodate our schedule (out-of-town owners), and was prompt to arrive for our appointment. Mike and Jacob troubleshot our system, were quick to diagnose a blown capacitor as the culprit. This was the second blown capacitor and the third HVACcontractor to service our heat pump in 2 years. The first two contractors did not provide a reliable and sensible solution despite being expensive (hence trust issues). As soon as Mike explained why our capacitor kept burning out, we agreed it was time to replace our old heat pump. On installation day, I received a text bright and early from Mike saying they were on their way. They started at 8am and was not done until after 5:00pm. Mike had to run out a few times, but Jacob stayed at our job site the entire day. Jacob is so hard-working. Our attic must have been very hot that day, he was drenched after a couple of hours. Jacob and Mike were very respectful of us and of our house the entire time. Drop cloths were laid out, shoe booties were worn, they even asked for permission before using our bathroom. At the end, we had a brand new working heat pump and air handling unit. Cold air was blowing out of the vents again. Pure joy! Mike and Jacob stayed to make sure the house cooled down sufficiently before calling it a day.
Later that evening we noticed a minor damage in the ceiling below the attic where M&J were working. I took a photo and texted them the next day. Mike responded right away asking when we’d be in town next so they could come take a look. No skirting the issue. I was impressed! A cause for the ceiling damage still needs to be determined. I can give an update to this review when that happens, but for now, I wholeheartedly recommend M&J Services, and will definitely use them again for our HVAC needs.
Integrity and honesty, this company has got both. I wish Mike and Jacob much success in their future endeavors.

I have bee experiencing problems with my HVAC in my home I had another contractor service the unit. I was advised to replace it at a cost of almost $4,000.00.
I was trying to get an idea to see is the quote was reasonable. John was honest an told me that the repair/replacement of the unit appeared reasonable.
Here is the thing, he came to my house, did not charge me for the visit but recommended I try a few other things before replacing the entire unit. (My old unit is made by a "contractor grade" unit which is know not to last a long time)
He suggested a few interim solutions before scraping this unit.
Based on his "fix" and some much needed cleaning the unit is running GREAT if in the event it requires replacement I have every intention on calling him.
The suggested replacement is made by YORK
and has a long warranty. At worse he has given me a chance of saving some money towards the replacement as I could not afford it now.
Thank you John B

Originally I was satisfied with the service provided. Although it was not cheap it TEMPORARILY masked the actual problem. I believe I was charged for something that just covered up the problem and John's lack of knowledge (or refusal to fix the actual problem) has cost me more money in the end...now that I know the real issue.
John attempted to sell me a brand new A/C, just to make a quick buck. He also talks a good talk about how 'cheap' he is compared to others...however I learned that is not accurate. John should brag a little less and let his work be the proof.
Him and his wife seemed nice and that is the only positive feedback I can provide, but a good HVAC repair company with integrity is hard to find. I would not recommend Atlantic Coast Contractors and have retrieved all recommendations I made.

John replaced our HVAC system, which has an attic unit as well as an outside unit. Anything that could go wrong, went wrong. From an accidental stepping on the ceiling to the unit sweating and dripping onto our ceiling....keep reading this isn't a negative review. These are things that just happen any time something new is installed, especially in a low attic like ours that is hard to move around in. But John and his employees kept coming back until everything was fixed and any needed repairs were complete. Not many people would do this but he genuinely cares about the quality of his work and his clients! On top of that 4 months after the installation occurred the thermostat he installed shorted out and he came back to replace it! We also had our water heater explode and he came and replaced that. He will always have our business as our go to contractor.

My HVAC stopped blowing cold air and the fan continued to run even when the unit was turned off. I had two companies come and attempt to "diagnose" the issue which resulted in my paying out "diagnose" fees and sitting through a sales pitch. Both were unable to pinpoint the issue and fix the system. I stumbled upon John and read his 5 star reviews on Thumbtack, all of which praised him for his knowledge and honesty as a technician and contractor. The first time I spoke with John about my issue, he advised me that not only would he be able to determine what was wrong with my system but that he would not charge me for his time to diagnose the issue. John arrived on time and was extremely professional and knowledgeable. John educated me on my system and determined what the issue was and advised me as to how it could be fixed. His price was extremely reasonable and he did not attempt to sell me anything which was a breath of fresh air considering every company that had been to my house had done so. John was also able to install a cold-air return for me of which I was originally told by other companies would cost me thousands. John was able to install this for well under any of the quotes I received. I was so impressed with John's service, I have been telling everyone I know about him. There is a reason he's been in this business for decades!!
