Charged me to inspect my HVAC, however I didn’t have power running to the HVAC bc the fuse box was off in my apartment but somehow still inspected it and said it was a compressor issue. The actual problem is not the compressor and doesn’t cost nearly $2600, which was the quote. Thanks for nothing.

This was probably one of the best diagnosis on HVAC that someone has given our family. I say this due to the fact that we were only expecting a diagnosis to our HVAC issue and a quote on how much it was going to cost to fix the issue at hand.
What happened was when these guys arrived, they efficiently started checking out every possible issue even if that meant that someone had to use a 40 ft ladder to reach one of the outside HVAC units to see if that was the problem (luckily it didn’t have to come to that,but these guys were more than ready to do so if need be). They found the issue to the problem and fixed everything in under an hour and charged only $100 for their time and to fix the issue! They do what they do because they love doing it and that’s hard to come across.
Would recommend these guys to anyone!

They were very quick to respond to our service call on Thumbtack and the technician was professional upon coming onsite. However, they failed to send an invoice, proposal, and promised documents to continue work on the project. Now we’re back at square one trying to resolve our HVAC issue. I am a landlord of our 98 year-old home that we lived in for 6 years when we were in Norfolk. So, just starting off that it takes a lot of trust
to use contractors from 3 time zones away.
John saved a lot of money compared to an in-hand estimate from a well-known HVAC company in Norfolk; they wanted to fully Remove/Replace components that weren't necessarily needing to be readily replaced once John took a good hard look at the system. He communicated with me along every step, and assured me that I was in good hands. Indeed, I was.
I'm only sorry that I didn't contact him sooner than this year, as he would have certainly been my go to HVAC man as soon as I would have met him. Call him. Trust him. Use him. You won't be sorry. Wish they were all like him.

Very personable and professional. He came out to my home and explained my options. Was very knowledgeable about the mini split systems that I was interested in purchasing. No "sale's pitch" and I did not feel pressed to buy anything. He was up front with the price/quote. He even threw in some extra equipment with no cost to me. Price never went up during the job. Would definitely recommend him to anyone for their HVAC needs.

Mike and Krystal were prompt and quick to respond to my request for an HVAC diagnostic visit to my home, which was great. Mike was willing to access and diagnose my system while I was at work, which was another plus. However, the verbal report of the visit was nondescript, recommending a full replacement of my condenser unit with no supporting documentation (4 business days later and I haven't received the written estimate promised the day of the diagnosis). I've since worked with another company for a second opinion and have completed a much simpler, quicker, and cheaper repair. It's possible my case was an outlier, but I highly recommend getting a second opinion to make sure you're getting the right answers.

Eric and Jayden came out to install a Nest thermostat, to replace an older Carrier thermostat I had in my gas furnace HVAC unit. They were very nice initially, but about 10 mins into the job they said they had another job and had to go to it and that they didn't know my job involved rewiring to accommodate the new Nest thermostat. They then proceeded to tell me that they couldn't do my job anyway because the Nest thermostat was incompatible with my system and that I needed to order a new thermostat. They kept repeating this for the next 40 minutes, even supposedly calling their friends up to confirm that the system was supposedly incompatible. They then demanded payment for their time of the $100 we had agreed to, for installation of the thermostat and they wouldn't leave without payment, even though the thermostat was not connected or working and I still had no heat in my house.
I ended up doing the simple rewiring myself (took me a total of 20 minutes) and the Nest thermostat has been working just fine for a few weeks now. I reached out to them to ask for a refund since I would have expected HVAC techs to know how to wire up a Nest thermostat, but I had to do it myself. I never heard from them again. If I ever do get a refund, I'll remove this review, but I can't recommend this company as they don't seem to know what they are doing if they can't install a simple thermostat. I would caution others to look elsewhere at more experienced pros before considering these guys unfortunately.

Hiring John for my HVAC "issue" was an unforgettable experience. As a young homeowner, I was afraid of being taken advantage of or misled about the cost or magnitude of the necessary repairs. I am so grateful that I hired John because not only did he drive from about 45 miles away during rush hour traffic on short notice to accommodate my schedule, but he took the time to educate me on how my system actually worked (it wasn't broken after all. Ha!). When he broke the news to me, he didn't make me feel like I had inconvenienced him in any way, even though he had gone to such lengths to help. In fact, he explained that my experience as his customer was more important than anything and I truly believe that's the motivation that drives the success of his business. He was pleasant and courteous and just exuded honesty. From the reviews on his business' profile, I'm pretty confident that he treats all of his customers this way... So if you have an issue that needs fixing, become one of Atlantic Coast Contractors' customers, and you will not be disappointed!

For me 5's are reserved for folks who go above and beyond what was asked. John is a great example of what a 5 review should be. I hired John to install a HVAC system in my rental property that never had a system. When John came to give the estimate, he was very professional and spent a lot of time answering my questions and explaining to me his process and the features of all the equipment as well as there function. After he left, I talk to two other installers and was educated enough to make a decision on who to hire for the job. John came in and installed the system and was done when he said he would be. He even Cleaned up better than I expected. He not only swept up his mess but cleaned the floor to the point where it look like he was never there. John done a great job with the installment and I thought his price was fair for the work he done. It was not the cheapest and not the highest but I could tell he would give me my moneyed worth and he did.. Cheapest is not always the best. You get what you pay for. John seems very passionate in what he does.I would recommend John to anyone looking to get a good job and fair price.

Hiring John was the best homeowner decision I have made, and the BEST CONTRACTOR I have ever dealt with. Prior to him coming out I had another company come and perform a leak check on my heat pump and told me where the leak was from. Huge mistake on my half, I believed them, freaked out over the quote I was provided with, found my way on to Thumbtack and found John. After talking to him on the phone and providing him the information about my system, and him explaining everything to me I had a great feeling about him coming out to do the service on my heat pump. When he showed up, he was a little confused, he took my system out, isolated where the apparent leak was coming from, and SHOWED me not 1 but 3 ways he tested it to be certain that there was no leak coming from where I was originally told it was coming from. He then put the rest of my system under pressure to find where the leak was and when he finally found it fixed it, and offered to come back out over the summer when it was warmer out to make sure my system is 100% serviced to where it needs to be. It was honestly a pleasure hiring John, and I will gladly hire him again for any of my other HVAC needs!
