Ron C. says, "After seeing several people on youtube attaching Gazebos to their deck, my wife decided she wanted one to. In my line of work I’m in over 100 backyards a week, so I’ve seen many damaged, ripped, blown over gazebos.
But I decided to see what was out there anyway. Maybe I could get a higher end, better made gazebo and have someone install it. Turns out even the high-end gazebos with metal roofs are only Aluminum, and most of them cost over $2000. Then there's the matter of having at least one pole in the middle of my deck.
Long story short I reached out on Thumbtack, and got 2 responses. One from a company who made an appointment, cancelled the day of and never contacted me again to reschedule.
The other one was from Arc Steel. They reached out, we set an appointment and they showed up, right on schedule.
Immediately I connected with these guys. There was just something genuine about them. They really seemed to take a genuine interest in my project, and made me feel like they really wanted to do it.
They sat in my space with me and just talked about my desires and needs. Really bought into my vision for the backyard and the deck. We also talked about my budget, and again they really seemed to WANT the job and to want to do it within my budget.
Long story long, I gave them the job. And they absolutely blew it out of the park.
They call these things “Pergolas”, but that just doesn’t do them any justice to me. The product they built here is simply gorgeous And one-of-a kind. They took THAT product and customized it to include features I requested specifically for the way we wanted to use the space.
One big request was to make the roof solid and leak proof, so we could sit under it even in light rain. That roof took them many hours to complete but they simply wouldn’t accept anything less than perfection.
The other concern was having a pole in the middle of my deck. These guys created a pergola with poles only one one side, with no poles on the deck. So it just seems to kinda float. As far as wind goes? I think my house would blow down before this thing ever did.
I had asked them to have the project done before Mother’s day. Due to things beyond their control they found themselves on site the day before my deadline, trying to finish.
But instead of apologizing and going home these guys stayed until midnight and GOT. IT. DONE.
Already it has absolutely changed the whole look and feel in our back yard, and everyone who has seen it has been absolutely blown away. Like really, blown away. You don't see this kind of thing in someone's humble backyard. Some fancy restaurant or hotel, maybe. We still go “wow” every time we come out here.
These guys are a young company, still building their name, reputation as well as their list of happy clients. As such, they are still working out some kinks here and there. I’ll be honest, there were a couple of times I really pushed them. All they ever did in response though, is try harder. Never gave excuses, never got angry at me, they just stepped up and did it.
No company I’ve ever worked with on Thumbtack has ever gone above and beyond to the extent that these guys did, and I have never been more absolutely floored by anyone I’ve ever hired from this platform.
Not only will I be hiring them again but I’ll be singing their praises to everyone who, after picking their jaw off the floor, inquires about who did this amazing piece of art these guys have blessed us with. Bring your patience and understanding, but please please hire these guys. You’ll be happy. They won’t rest until you are."See more
