I recently engaged the services of Berrett HVAC and Plumbing to address an issue with my toilet, which was not flushing properly due to a suspected blockage. Regrettably, my experience fell far short of expectations and left me feeling both professionally and personally disappointed.
Upon contacting Berrett, I was initially quoted a service fee of $99 (waived if hired). However, upon the plumber's arrival and a cursory inspection, I was informed that no blockage was found after a mere three flushes and a brief pass of a hand-crank auger through the toilet. The plumber attributed the problem vaguely to the age of the toilet, despite the discrepancy in the age of my property.
Subsequently, I was presented with a verbal quote for a new toilet and installation, which I declined as the issue seemed resolved and the toilet was functioning at that moment. To my dismay, I was then presented with a bill totaling $250 for the service rendered. When I sought clarification on this amount compared to the initial quote, I was informed it was due to the drain auger work, which felt unjustified given the minimal effort expended and the lack of resolution.
To compound matters, the very next day, the toilet malfunctioned once again. Upon contacting Berrett, I was informed that rectifying the issue would require an additional service fee, which I found utterly unacceptable given the substantial amount I had already paid for what amounted to a brief and inconclusive visit.
It is disheartening to note that Berrett's approach to addressing the issue lacked thoroughness and attention to detail. Furthermore you will find many plumbers quoting $75 - $125 for clearing a clogged drain or main sewer line and inspecting it with a camera to ensure the problem is fixed. On the contrary Berrett's plumber had not tried to clear the line at the clean-outs, he did little more than pass a drain auger for a few feet through the toilet and clearly was not thorough in checking that it was not re-clogging by attempting to flush again with toilet paper.
As someone who has engaged the services of numerous contractors through the Thumbtack platform over the years, I cannot in good conscience recommend Berrett HVAC and Plumbing to others seeking reliable and professional plumbing services.
