While the contractor did mention that there might be additional fees, he didn’t specify the exact amounts until after the work was completed, which led to confusion.
The quote mentioned “shelves,” but it wasn’t clear that the wood listed was not for the shelf I wanted, which resulted in an unexpected charge. I was surprised by a $100 fee for a 45-minute store trip and extra work (not additional materials), which wasn’t clearly communicated. While I understand that time and travel can be factored into a cost, the amount seemed excessive given the nature of the task, and I would have appreciated more clarity from the start.
What really frustrated me, though, was how the contractor responded when I raised concerns about the unexpected charges.
