I asked Jae to help me with two piano pieces: one that I've been struggling with, and another that I've always wanted to play.
Jae has helped me tackle my "struggle piece" with a different perspective, offering great insights when it comes to my "trouble spots." He's also helped me approach the other piece I want to learn with confidence and clear guidance. Overall, he's extremely patient when you're struggling, and offers plenty of encouragement + respectful/helpful criticism throughout the lesson.
Aside from being an awesome person, Jae's lessons are also impressively organized and thorough. I've practiced with him remotely, and I really appreciate how he organizes his screen so you can A. observe him playing from all angles and B. see his notes on the piece you're playing. It's as close to in-person lessons as you can get through a screen. Moreover, you can count on the fact that you're working with a skilled pianist: Jae's knowledge and expertise are both evident. Name any classical piece you want to play, and he has it at the ready... along with a profound understanding of the composition.
Since I play piano casually / as a hobby, I've only thus far had two lessons with Jae. But both have been extremely fulfilling and beneficial. Jae is also extremely accommodating when it comes to scheduling with him. Highly recommend!
