Introduction

I teach contemporary music (jazz, blues, folk, pop, country, etc) and classical music. My specialties are jazz and improvisation. I offer in-studio music lessons in Richfield, MN and online lessons nationwide. My students are performing musicians, casual musicians, beginners, composers & songwriters. They sing, play piano, keyboard, acoustic guitar and banjo. Each of my students has a personal page on my website providing them with easy access to their lesson materials. I have a unique, fun and effective way of teaching music. My teaching methods are heavily influenced by my time at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I offer multi-lesson discounts. I took virtual piano lessons with Jim for about a year until my work schedule got in the way. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first thing I do is learn the new student's musical interests and goals. Then, based on their current ability, I design a custom program to help them achieve these goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A. degree in Music Performance from Westmar College in Iowa and continuing music education at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. In addition I have been composing, performing and teaching music for over 40 years.
