Fence and Gate Repairs

  • 30 hires on Thumbtack
Adam H. says, "Never stop working was true to their name. These guys know fences and posts. I sent them pictures of my fallen fence gate and old rotten area that connected to my house from my neighbors fence. Gate blew down in the wind. Post snapped due to moisture. In one day, they came in and dug out the old concrete from the post and replaced the post with a 6x6 better posts and custom built on site a double door barn style solution based only on a picture I sent them my wife found online. They did it just as close to the picture as I could ask for. They also worked with me during the project to deal with yard Slant issue I had. I was very pleased with the outcome and it seems sturdy and well built. These hard-working guys did the job for me in one day at the quality I expected that the price I expected which was a good value and did it the next day after I asked them-can’t beat that service."See more

Lina Z. says, "Project from start to finish took two days. Xcellent is very quick with their responses and were very transparent throughout the whole process. Job description: mold removal. We had mold from our basement flooding due to failed sump pump. The carpet had to be ripped up and a mold test showed more areas of the basement were affected. Xcellent aided us in replacing dry wall, fumigating, and installing professional flooring to not only remediate the mold but make our basement look better than before. They allowed us creative freedom with whatever we wanted and got the job done budget friendly. A job like this is in the $4k range. Team consisted of Xavier (same guy that came out for the estimate) and two others whom showed up punctually both days. Everything had a paper trail for everyone’s records and they even gave us a 10% discount. We do not have any complaints working with this company and we hoped to work with them again very soon."See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is landscaping?

Landscaping is the intentional placement and maintenance of living plants on an area of land or in your yard. This can include trees, lawn, flowers, bushes and other plant life and often incorporates mulch and other organic matter. The primary purpose of landscaping is to provide beauty to the house or building it surrounds.

Many landscaping companies also offer design, architecture and construction services. For example, they can help you design a yard that incorporates a patio, deck, pool, fire pit, lighting, walkways, retaining walls and more.

How much does landscaping cost per square foot?

The cost of landscaping can vary widely based on the type of plants you wish to have, the amount of grading required, the condition of the land before work begins, and other factors. Adding in designer or high-end landscaping, as well as hardscaping such as sidewalks, walls, or patios will add to the cost. To find out how much your landscaping will cost, contact landscapers near you.

Is hiring a landscaper worth it?

A landscaper is worth it if you don't want to invest a significant amount of time and effort into planting, trimming, raking, weeding and performing other operations on your garden or yard. Hiring a landscaper to perform regular maintenance in your yards and complete bigger projects is valuable if you’re looking to sell your house. A professional landscaper can make your house more appealing to potential buyers.

Some landscapers may perform maintenance duties — remove leaves, mow lawns, trim trees and shrubs, etc. —  but they can also help you bring bigger projects to life. This may include adding a misting system, an outdoor fireplace, water features, artificial turf, a patio and much more.

Where can you buy landscaping rocks?

You can shop for landscaping rocks from a variety of different sources. The first option is large chain retail stores specializing in home improvement and gardening. Often, landscaping rocks like slate and other slabs arrive on pallets and are sold in bulk, giving you a great deal. Your local landscaping store also carries rocks, and you may even have a stone or quarry seller nearby who can sell you the rocks you need. When in doubt, contact landscaping companies near you to see if they have rocks you can purchase.

Why does my gate sag?

A gate can sag for a number of reasons. One common reason is that the screws holding the hinges in the wood or other post material have come loose, causing gravity to pull the fence down. Another common problem is the gate post’s lack of stability. Posts can become loose and start to lean, or if they are wooden, they can even rot at the point where they meet the ground.
