I had a window that I believed to need a seal repair due to temperature fluctuations in the room on the 3rd floor of my townhome. It should be a simple repair once the leak location is identified and the wonderful reviews made me believe they would be able to perform the work. They quoted me $120 before his arrival. The handyman was punctual and very friendly. After a 10 minute inspection, his hypothesis was that the seals were fine and that the single pane window was most likely the reason, so no repair was required. The handyman did not perform any work and we walked outside to discuss payment. Even if he was to reseal the window, he would have used acrylic caulk you can buy at Home Depot for $3. I told the handyman in the future that I’d love for them to do the window install if I got a new window ($500-$800). NOT ANYMORE - and here’s why! After speaking with his boss to discuss payment, they attempted to charge me $50 for his 10 minute visit. It was not disclosed to me prior to the handyman’s arrival that they have a 2-hour $120 minimum until this discussion. He quoted me $120 to perform a job that was never done. I politely asked if I could pay $25 to account for the handyman’s travel; it wouldn’t be fair if he just came for free. His boss on the phone then immediately became rude and told me I can pay whatever I want, but not to contact them again for any work. Who treats customers like that? The handyman (I think his name was Alexander) was so nice and I felt bad he was caught in the middle of it. I gave him $25 so that his travel and time was covered. I will not be doing business with his boss any longer and will take my future window business somewhere else. I’ve had such wonderful experiences with Thumbtack and am saddened how this individual treated me. If he hadn’t been so rude and reinforced that there was nothing he could do about the $50, I would’ve just paid it. I love leaving positive reviews. This was just a bad experience for me, but I’m glad it was good for many others. Looks like they do great work. I suggest they put they have a 2-hour $120 minimum in their information so their customers don’t feel conned when they show up and don’t end up needing to perform any work.

I was dealing with a guy by the name of Ryan. He was supposed to come out to my home on 5/2, to start the repair of my son's bedroom window. he never showed up and never called to let me know what was going on. This guy is supposedly representing your company. I would have to say he is not doing your company justice.
If a technician can not make it out to someones house they should at least call, not leave them hanging.

My previous handyman retired and Jem is definitely going to be my new go to. I look for people who communicate well, give and stick to timelines and have a perfectionist dedication to the work they do, while also being reasonable with pricing. Jem is all these things! I had several projects across multiple sites: fixing windows and doors to be less drafty and work properly, repair a hole and siding on the outside of a house where plumbers had left it from fixing pipe leaks, and installing a ceiling mount tv. Jem did excellent quality work all within a week of initial contact. I definitely recommend. I’ve included pictures of the siding that is absolutely perfect~

I had two broken window panes. One was a slight crack, but exposed enough to let air in (and out). The other had been broken on account of one my kids who was not being careful. I contacted two pros here since I'm also a Thumbtack Pro for Computer Repair and Networking. I figured I'd give Thumbtack a try as a customer. Smithey did not disappoint! He called me literally with 2 minutes of me submitting the request. He came out the next morning, sized up the situation, measured the glass and in about 2 hours, he had it looking brand new. His pricing was fair, he was professional, and he got the job done. We even spoke about circumstances unique to Thumbtack professionals. He was a good guy all the way around. I'd highly recommend him.
