Ron and his crew from KCRS showed up very promptly and ran through our options to troubleshoot a problem with water coming from our fireplace. We agreed to a reasonable price and they got to work immediately, doing a great job to repair our badly cracked chimney crown. I hired MDM to do some maintenance and repair work on my chimney and fire chamber. For the exterior, they replaced the flashing, repaired the crown and loose mortar. For the fire chamber, they cleaned and parged.
It’s a little difficult for me to write about the quality of their work because I don’t really know much about maintaining fireplaces and chimneys. But the photos of the completed work looked good. They showed up when they said they would, which, in my experience is huge. When dealing with contractors. They worked all day, they cleaned up the mess and then they came back the next day and finished the job and cleaned up their mess again.
They were very friendly and professional and my dogs loved them. All in all, I was very satisfied and unless something alarming happens when I light my first fire of the season, I would definitely recommend them, and hire them again.

My poor experience started even before my service call. They told me my fireplace repair needed a part that would take 7-10 days to arrive and I needed to pay for the part in advance which I did. Two weeks later when I hadn’t heard back, I called the office only to be told that the part hadn’t even shipped. I told them to cancel the order and I went online myself and ordered the part which arrived in 4 days! I then called for the service. The experience with the Pro chimney technician was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced in the 20 years I’ve owned homes in DC. He ignored the signs on my door to remove his shoes. After I asked for shoe covers he instead returned with dusty floor covers which created a dusty mess that he couldn’t be bothered to clean up. He didn’t have the patience to figure out a childproof gate so he used force and broke it. Then he yanked the childproof clip around the fireplace and ripped paint off the wall. After all the damage to my property it wasn’t surprising that he didn’t have the patience to remove the tiny screws required to change the pilot assembly. Stating “this will take all day, I can’t do this” before leaving my property with dusty floors, damaged childproof gate and damaged walls.
