I hired Antonio of Parras Mechanical to take out an old furnace and install a new furnace, air purifier and humidifier which I had purchased directly. Antonio agreed to come out with one other and work for $75/hr, $150/hr altogether, and committed to no more than 10hrs of work or $1500. Unfortunately Antonio had to be out of town taking care of his wife on the install day so he sent his father and brother-in-law who mentioned to me that this was his first day doing this type of work. I continued the project, as we needed heat, but was skeptical of the crew. Taking out the furnace and installing the new furnace went well. During their initial work I installed a new C-Wire and Thermostat to help save them time. Installing the air cleaner took lots of calls between Antonio and his father. The humidifier install is where it fell apart. It seemed Antonio's father hadn't dealt with a humidifier before. He said it was missing some part to connect the water line. He did his best, wrapped it up, said it was all installed and stated that Antonio would come finish connecting the Humidifier. Days later Antonio came to finish the install, looked at it all and stated it was all hooked up correctly, tested the unit and found power not being delivered from a board or transformer. He said I'd have to call the people I bought from and try to resolve the faulty device through them. I understood this. I asked for a solution that he could manage for me and he told me about a less expensive solution that he could do, I asked for a quote. The quote was some $200 more than the cost of the unit I bought and its installation. I contacted the group I bought from and they walked me through an hour or so of trouble shooting. We found the unit needed a replacement board but also that the unit couldn't possibly function because a wire hadn't been run from the Humidifier unit to the Furnace which would trigger the Humidifier to function once the Furnace was on and blowing heat. This was a double error from Parras in that the first crew didn't connect it and Antonio also didn't see that as an issue. Really feel they had little idea or concern about getting my humidifier working and the job completed. I offered to pay Antonio $150 to replace the part and finish the job but he refused demanding more money. I feel that this job was not completed and cannot recommend a company that doesn't follow through on their commitments.
