We discovered termite debris on the side of our home recently, and had 4 home inspections. We selected 2 large companies (Orkin and Terminix) and 2 local companies (First Termite and ER Pest & Termite). We chose ER Pest & Termite for the following reasons:
1) The Inspector (owner), Ricardo, was extremely thorough in his inspection, checking every areas of the house. He discovered an exterior infestation on our patio cover that the others didn't. He is also very knowledgeable on all termite-related issues. As he inspected the house, he also gave us suggestions on non-termite related issues to improve the care & maintenance of the house.
2) Best Value -- ER's treatment cost was low compared to the other providers. However, it offered the best warranty -- 2 years warranty for the entire house even though we only paid for a local treatment on the infected areas. Other companies' warranty only cover the treated area and some companies charge extra for extended warranty.
3) Best Customer Service -- He was punctual to our appointments and returned calls promptly. He provided the quote right after the inspection. This seems like a minor issue, but we had to follow up with the other providers to ask for the quote even though they all promised to send us the quote a day or two after the inspection.
Overall, we definitely felt that he cared about helping us resolve the problem and this was not just a transaction.
