Coming in with previous experience taking drum lessons and practicing on my own, I found that Nick does a great job of introducing drumming styles or techniques that I haven't had experience with before. I'm able to ask him questions about songs or techniques I'm curious about and he'll tailor exercises or give advice on these topics. Overall, Nick is professional, laidback, and easy to talk to.

When I started looking for a drum teacher, I decided to look via Thumbtack. Blake replied to my posting right away, and I saw him for our first lesson shortly after. Blake is very encouraging and great at explaining/demonstrating. Overall he's a great teacher and I'm glad I found him so easily! I've been taking lessons with him for almost a year and a half, but now via Skype lessons after I moved again. Would recommend him to anyone.

I have been looking to take drum lessons ever since I moved to Los Angeles. After 6 years, I finally decided to try it out... and I'm so glad I did!
I had no idea that I would find such a great drum instructor on the first try. Thanasi is a really talented drummer, and makes me feel comfortable when playing as well. The studio set up is great, and best of all, there is parking available — a must-have for any LA location, in my opinion!
I sort of had a musical background coming into drums, as I've played a few instruments in the past. But it seems like Thanasi is able to adapt to all skill levels, and sort of tailor the learning experience towards each individual student, which is something I love.
Can't wait to continue rocking out for months to come!!! 🥁

Nick is an extremely professional instructor. He is extremely well organized, responsive, and willing to be flexible when work/personal emergencies occur. He is a really cool guy and I have thoroughly enjoyed my weekly lessons with him. He has a clear passion for the drums, music, and for teaching. As an instructor he is incredibly beginner friendly and spends quality time planning lessons that will get me working on different techniques but also quickly making progress towards playing songs I want to play.

Don't miss your chance to get trained by Alex. He is a nurturing and fun teacher who has developed a system of teaching drums that builds skills and drumming language from a foundational level. He creatively names phrases and stickings (for the sake of learning and building) with a focus on how they come together in the context of playing and listening to actual music. As you make progress and learn, he introduces new concepts and makes sure you’re getting it right with periodic tests and tweaks.
His goal is to accelerate your growth as a drummer, and he does this with his system by addressing subjects such as solo-language, comping, timing exercises, and understanding sub-divisions in the context of playing music, instead of drumming exercises and esoteric rudiments just for the sake of it.
All of our lessons have been virtual, too. We both live in Los Angeles, but my time is limited, and I’d rather hook up through virtual means instead of wasting my time driving – and this has worked out wonderfully.
Alex knows his stuff but is very humble and gracious. He has studied with many of the greats and has put in plenty of shed time with the canonical books (e.g., Stick Control, Wilcoxon, Riley, etc.); sometimes our discussions venture into that territory, when I’m feeling extra ambitious.
Alex is willing to get involved in your development and music endeavors -- outside of lessons, we exchange notes on my progress and recordings of my jazz band. Since studying with Alex, I’ve seen tremendous progress in the way I play, read, and listen to music.

Alex is an excellent teacher. He's patient and his lessons are designed specifically to fit you! He can see your potential. In his class he not only teaches you the techniques, but also the way to think and feel. And you get a lot of encouragement too! Every time after class, I feel energetic.
As a beginner, Alex quite understand my needs, and it has only been one month yet I felt I've improved much further then I expected. He made me confident that I can be good at drumming! Looking forward to next class!

My 7 year old son has been taking drum lessons with Thannasi since October. So many wonderful things to say about him. He’s extremely responsive and communicative, always on time and is very patient. My son is not always the most focused and tends to want to do his own thing but Thannasi has been able to reel him in and give him the foundations to become a really good drummer. I highly recommend Thanassi as a teacher, but also he is an exceptional drummer!! Always enjoy him showing us all his tricks!!
