Jessica did decoration for my daughter’s event. She was very responsive over the phone. She is a very creative person. She also made cookies for the event. On the day of the event, she arrived on time. All the guests loved the decoration and the cookies. Received lot of compliments on decoration on Instagram as well. I plan to hire her for all my future events!

Warning: It’s a Nightmare of Unprofessional Decor Service
- Sam double booked herself for another event right after ours and rushed our decoration due to an apparent ‘emergency’ at the other event.
- The decoration clearly looked rushed. For example, instead of the promised “balloon garland”, we only got a few balloons on the side of the arch. And the teddy bear centerpieces were left haphazardly inside the hot-air balloons. It was evident that very little attention was paid to details.
- Sam was the only one doing the decoration. Apparently, her ‘helper’ canceled last minute due to daylight saving, but it’s doubtful there was any helper to begin with.
- The venue manager didn’t open the venue on time, but there was no communication with us to let us know what was happening. Instead of waiting, Sam apparently went away to shop for something and didn’t come back until much later. It was unclear why she wasn’t prepared in advance.
- There was no communication with us after the decoration was done. No courtesy photos of the backdrop were shared before she left the venue.
- When we arrived, we noticed she missed putting the spotlight on the backdrop. We tried calling her immediately but didn’t get any reply until 1.5 hours later when the party was halfway done. When we asked her about the spotlight, she said the venue already had spotlights, but she never bothered to check them. She insisted the spotlights were ‘complimentary’ and not part of the contract, despite discussing it extensively in our communication.
- She also didn’t put any table runners as we had discussed during our Zoom call, but she brought up that it was not part of the written quote, despite our verbal agreement.
- She showed up in the middle of the party when we were busy making announcements, asking for the full payment. Despite our dissatisfaction with her decoration, we didn’t want to create a scene at the party, so we had to give her the full payment despite our dismay.
- Overall, we had a bad experience working with Sam. She lacked basic professionalism, did a rushed job with minimal attention to detail, backed out on verbal arrangements, and asked for full payment in the middle of the party while we were hosting.
