My daughter and I are tennis newbies! Harlan is patient, instructive, encouraging, and available when we want to take a lesson! Our experience has been good-there is a steep learning curve since the technique in tennis dies not feel natural when one is first starting out! I believe Harlan is helping us learn to play correctly, and most importantly we are having fun!

Coach Hopchik has been a great find as my son has sought to improve his tennis skills. Over the course of several lessons, he has made it a point to address all aspects of his games through intense, focused drills, as well as one-on-on match play. My wife and I had 1 session with Harlan - I cannot comment on his coaching skills since this was our first tennis lesson and therefore I don't have anything to compare to. We did enjoy the session, but as others have mentioned, several comments were made that I would not consider "professional". For instance, "That serve was almost as beautiful as you". In any case, we brushed it aside and enjoyed the session. After the lesson things really went south quickly! Harlen offered 10 sessions with a 10% discount and we declined and said we would prefer to pay as we go - Harlen became extremely pushy and insisted that we pay upfront for at least 3 sessions. Again I refused and at this point, he became aggressive and told me to not be so cheap and said he will rather deal with my wife. I am so glad that I decided to join my wife at her session because I would not be comfortable at all with her being alone with him and there is no doubt in my mind that she would not have been able to refuse the pre-payments that he was pushing on us. Extremely aggressive tactics - Beware.
