I would highly recommend using Texas Repipes for a hot water heater replacement. Our water heater is upstairs in our attic and it was not an easy job. They also made recommendations on roof venting of the hot water heater that no other plumber had previously mentioned (we’ve been in our home over thirty years).
They were very professional and we felt very much at ease with them. They also installed some new faucets for us.

We exchanged info and i sent him pica of my existing heater the next day to have a new one installed 2 days later. He worked efficiently and left a clean working area. Robert came out and replaced our super old hot water heater and installed a tankless water heater. We set up a time he was there on time, very professional and got right to work. I was not handed off to a Lesser than once I agreed on the price.

It was 8:00 pm on December 30 when I realized our hot water heater wasn’t working. I listed my project on Thumbtack to see about getting a new one installed, knowing that the next day was New Year’s Eve and getting someone in was highly unlikely. But I was wrong! Within a few minutes of my post, Doug Shaw from Shaw Plumbing texted me and said I should call him to talk about the details. See, over the years, we had been told by several different plumbers that in order to replace our old hot water heater, we’d have to tear out the closet it was in because the new heaters would NEVER fit in such a confined space. I told Doug what previous plumbers had said, and he spent the next hour diligently texting with me to ask thorough questions about specific closet/heater dimensions, and for pictures of the various connections and the old hot water heater itself. At the end of the text conversation, he told me he saw no reason why a new water heater wouldn’t fit. We scheduled an appointment for the afternoon of the next day. The next day — New Year’s Eve!
The next day, about 15 minutes before the hour-long window Doug had given me the night before for his arrival time, he called me to tell me he’d be there in 40 minutes — exactly within the time frame he had promised the night before. His communication throughout his service was awesome. He arrived exactly when he said he would and went right to work. He had purchased the same capacity heater as what was being replaced, but in the “slim” version to make sure it would fit in the space all the other plumbers had said new ones never would. Within an hour and a half — again, on New Year’s Eve and after I had just contacted him the night before — Doug had removed the old hot water heater, connected the new one, and had the new hot water heater completely installed in a space other plumbers had said was impossible to work with. And 30 minutes after that we had hot water again. His work ethic is impeccable, and he is highly skilled. Oh — and, EVERY time before he walked into our house, he put protective covers on his shoes and took them off when he walked out to his truck to get some equipment. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Doug Shaw and Shaw Plumbing. He made everything as easy and as fast as it could have possibly been. And compared to some of the quotes I received from other plumbers for the work — which wouldn’t have been scheduled for another 5-6 days — Shaw’s rates were competitive. 5-6 days without hot water was not a viable option for our house which had 2 young kids and 2 elderly people in it, so I was willing to pay more for faster service, but it turns out I didn’t have to. Not to mention that we had another plumbing mishap earlier in the day on New Year’s Eve, and Doug patiently took the time to look at and diagnose that problem, too — and even scheduled a time to come back in a few days to fix it once he had the needed part. So we’ve already hired Doug for a second project! He will be our new plumber from here on out. I told him in person I can see why he has 5 stars on Thumbtack — he has definitely earned them all!

That impression followed through completion of the work. Doug was responsive and thorough in communicating leading up to install. Once on site, he was equally as pleasant, was personable and efficient in completing the install. He even vacuumed and cleaned up the area once they finished. Great experience and I highly recommend!
