Wow! Our countertops look amazing! We hired Melvin to install new quartz countertops in our old kitchen. We liked him from the get-go. He was meticulous when he came and gave our estimate, pointing out details that other contractors missed. He gave us a very competitive estimate then came in and flawlessly executed the work. The countertop work was done to a high quality and completed on time. We will bring him back when we remodel our bathrooms. Highly recommend his work!

I was a bit suspicious when I couldn’t find out more about this company outside of Thumbtack but I have been won over. Melvin replaced a kitchen sink and fixed a countertop chip for me. He did an excellent job. This was a job that I was finding it hard to have others do. I tried plumbers and other countertop companies for this. Only one other company, a general contractor, would give me a price. Melvin showed up on time, explained fully what he would do, and executed perfectly. He is professional and a great value. Highly recommended.

Very poor communication. I finally got them to setup a date and time to cutout a larger sink in my granite countertop. They never showed up. Never called. Refused to respond to messages. Now my kitchen is torn up and I have to reinstall my old sink and put everything back together. I'm very disappointed in this contractor and in Thumbtack for having someone like this in their listings. It's just plain sorryness.

Updated review 9/3… part 1: I first hired Tony to cut my granite for a new sink. Tony did a great job cutting my granite countertop for a new sink. He was professional and did a great job but most importantly he arrived EARLY and was flexible while I finished a work call before letting him in. I struggle to find contractors who arrive when they say they will. I might be hiring Tony to install a new backsplash in the kitchen. He quoted me a great price. I look forward to working with Tony again and would recommend others to hire him.
Updated part 2: I hired Tony to install my kitchen backsplash. Tony quoted me while doing the above job. He was working in my kitchen for several hours and I showed him the tile I planned on using. When the day came to install, Tony sent his son Anthony and daughter for the job. They arrived on time, communicated clearly, and were polite. I showed Anthony the space and reiterated what I was looking for and confirmed the orientation of the tile. A few hours later, I got a phone call from Tony insinuating that I had changed the scope of the job (I had not) and now this would be 2 days v 1 and he’d have to charge me more. I want to pay them fairly for the work so we agreed to a 20% price increase (which I felt forced to do because they had already started). These issues could have easily been prevented with a proper scoping and asking more questions from the beginning. I hire professionals who I believe are experts. For jobs I hire for, I typically don’t know what you need to fully understand the scope/price a job. Or we could have rescheduled to when Tony could have been there himself (I didn’t know he wasn’t coming until his son showed up and clarified). We could have clarified before getting started.
When the job was finished I was happy with the work upon initial inspection - it looked great! However, when reviewing in more detail, I’m seeing things I’m not as impressed with 1) tiles are not entirely level 2) it doesn’t appear that spacers were used - the tiles are on a sheet but assumed this meant less spacers not no spacers - so grout lines are not even throughout and 3) corners are not laid correctly/lined up 4) a chipped tile was used (I have extra so a different sheet could have been used).
This was a marble tile and every sheet had to be cut in some way or another. I understand they were difficult to work with. Also, I’m trying to have realistic expectations because we’re all human but the above points are tile installation basics. Based on previous reviews of Tony’s tile work, I had different expectations for these details.
