Do not book with this company. I hired FixTman to assemble my carport and gazebo in Austin after seeing great reviews on Thumbtack. I had booked two days to do this, taking Friday off of work and making sure I was home on Saturday (each item would take 7 hours ish to build).
The original two techs that came out were late on Friday, letting me know there was an issue with their hotel. No problem. I understand things happen, but they didn't get started on the carport until roughly 3 pm. Only stayed an hour to two hours tops because of the heat. Again, I'm understanding because I know how hot it's been. I made sure to provide them shade, a fan and water (which they didn't bring). I don't want anyone passing out in the heat. They asked if they could come back the next day at 6 am to get started while it was cool, which I was fine with.
6 am, I'm up and ready to see them ...no sign of them. They didn't show up until after 10 am. Around 4 pm they tell me they need to go get additional drill bits to anchor my carport to my driveway. At this point, I've given up on my gazebo being completed. I tell them that's fine, I'll be home. Before they started the carport, I asked numerous times, "you'll be able to anchor this to the ground, correct?" I was assured it wouldn't be a problem. Before they left to get new drill bits, they asked for payment. I misunderstood they wanted me to pay them directly and paid the invoice link provided by FixTman. This results in a really uncomfortable conversation where I'm being told they'll have to wait for payment, they're out for the hotel, it makes me uncomfortable because they're acting like I've now inconvenienced them.
Now, they get back from getting new drill bits, we're at 6 pm, the carport isn't anchored and they're blaming my concrete (vs having the correct tools). It's also getting ready to storm, which I'm really worried about. I don't want my non-anchored carport flying in to my neighbors' home. They leave (while still asking if they can start on the gazebo - I said no) and I call FixTman furious. I am told that no one can come out to secure my carport and I should have called during business hours..... A carport that should have taken 7 hours to complete wasn't completed over two days and I should have called during business hours.
They finally sent someone new to secure my carport the next day (who was the one bright spot of my FixTman experience - Shervin was wonderful). He's at my house for roughly an hour and has the carport anchored (so was not my concrete...).
Now, let's update to this week. My carport has been up for roughly 3 months. We have 40 mph wind gusts on Sunday and I drive home to my carport roof panels blowing away. They didn't secure them to the carport. One hit my neighbors home, one hit my house and I had to chase the other down. One I had to duck tape because half of it was trying to fly away. This is a $2500 carport that I now need to have someone else come out, make sure I have all of the parts and fix. I'm just lucky I drove up when I did. Before you think, maybe it was your carport. Maybe it wasn't designed well. I had the gazebo installed by a different company and it has the exact same roof panels (it's the same brand). It's completely fine after being in the exact same weather as my carport.
If I could give my experience with FixTman 0 stars I would. I've never had such a bad experience with a company.
