I used this company for a rental property renovation in February 2024. It is now July 2024. I do not live in Tennessee so we corresponded mostly via text. The company was responsive & professional during the renovation phase. The primary parts of the job were painting kitchen cabinets, installing new kitchen flooring, installing bathroom flooring, installing a bathroom, vanity, installing a tub and replacing shower tile, painting certain rooms in the house, installing a crawlspace liner and repairing hvac vents as necessary. I also asked that he help install countertops and understood that he had another job and would come back to do that. In the meantime, I had a different contractor come back and reinstall the old countertops. I’ll admit that some of aspects of the job were add-ons, but I agreed to pay the extra amounts (& did pay for them), and to wait until after his next job. After my Tenant walked through and found a leak behind the vanity and that a shower valve that was loose, Jesus, the owner, came by to fix those items. However, I have reached out to him about additional items that are broken or are not functioning, and he is not responding. Laminate flooring is separating, shower grout work is cracking, and I still do not have replacement kitchen countertops. My tenant is threatening to withhold rent for a “non-functioning house,” and whether that is legitimate or not, the work should not be falling apart this quickly. I actually didn’t ask him to do some of the malfunctioning work (the shower shelf is an example). I’m very disappointed in this outcome. This was my worst experience with Thumbtack and I will not use it for handyman services again. Two stars only because the cabinet paint job was good and during the renovation period, Jesus was responsive.

David remodeled my laundry room, which involved hanging cabinetry, installing trim, and building custom shelves to connect the cabinets. He also applied privacy film to most of my windows, which requires great patience, attention to detail, and precision. He was courteous, fairly priced, and easy to work with. He’s definitely one of the most organized, responsive handy men I’ve ever worked with—on my invoice he even included a copy of the Home Depot receipts for my project.
The one downside—he does work slowly (which he’ll be the first to admit), but it’s worth it for the quality he delivers. And he bills based on what he thinks is fair for the project, not necessarily how many hours he spent on it.
David is one of a kind—I highly recommend him.
