Dumay G. says, "I've a feeling many out there will be able to relate to this... My parents (88 & 85) recently moved into a retirement home/apartment. Prior to the move, a plan to reduce the collection of "stuff": furniture, decor & my mom's clothing collection was only loosely implemented. Once everything was in, they were faced with a very real, life size, multi-dimensional game of Tetris within the smaller space of their new home. As we saw the situation unfolding, I (especially) & they became overwhelmed & intimidated by the new scope of work created during the transition. As I realized the urgency of the situation & the need for help, I literally created a desperate & urgent call for an Obi Wan Kenobi of home organization on Thumbtack (my 1st & only to date). A few Organizers got back to me that morning. I'm sure they are all capable. The universe answered with Sonnet Grant/Swell Organizing. Sonnet was the only one available on the fly. She was able to meet, assess & work for a few hours almost immediately & made arrangements to return with a team member that Saturday to continue working. On this app you can only select 3 "highlights". If I had any computer skills, I would've hacked it & selected all 5. Sonnet is amazing, focused, efficient, task oriented, extremely tactful & personable when dealing with my parents + helping me reduce my freak out/ frustration factor immediately. My dad sent me a few excited text messages in real time as she was working with my mom praising her progress & efficiency. In addition to helping organize their stuff, Sonnet helped my dad set up his computer & printer + somehow managed to locate the tv remotes for him (a literal needle in a haystack) ... There is still some work to do. It's a process & Sonnet/Swell organizing are still in the picture until we get things dialed in. But the amount of work she was able to do in a very compressed time frame was amazing. Moving under the best, well planned & executed circumstances is stressful & unsettling. When they are not, it affects everyone. The stress & sense of unfamiliarity are multiplied on many levels. Sonnet/Swell Organizing completely shifted that equation & smoothed things out. Thanks for everything!!!"See more
