Amanda was amazing!! The communication before, during, and after the renovation was really great. Amanda not only executed what was asked but also went above and beyond when it came to designer tips. Amanda has a great eye on what goes well with each other to create a total different atmosphere within the renovated units. I could not of asked for a better contractor. Thank you Amanda for bringing my vision to life!!

I hired G&J to comlete my kitchen renovation. We needed to have our downstairs living room and kitchen area painted. Along with having new appliances installed to uodate the kitchen. I was given an 8 am start time. They arrived right on time and got right to work. I am extremely pleased with the work that was done. I would definitely recommend them to do uour home renovations.

Amanda was attentive to my needs as someone renovating a 1920’s home. Gave keen insight and provided helpful tips for moving forward. Very quick to communicate and was able to be flexible with my walkthrough dates.

Update as of June 17, 2018:
We are working on fixing a leak in the upstairs bathroom, and the ceiling on the 1st floor that has suffered because of it. I want to be sure I am open about that remaining part of the process.
The floors on the first floor have been redone and they are BEAUTIFUL.
I want to say this: Theophilus Spears I would work with in a heartbeat again - and would recommend him to anyone. He is a great leader, and if a mistake is made his honesty and integrity is of the utmost... he will fix it.
My experience with Bill is that he is largely absent in the process, and not totally honest in the quoting process. I understand that an estimate is just that, an estimate - but replacing and rebuilding stairs and replacing plaster is a MJOR cost. It is ok if major construction things have to change from the estimate, but then those changes need to be accounted for financially. I want my contractor - Bill Ferguson in this case - to volunteer that. Not make me feel like an idiot when I request it, and claim that "he doesn't remember that part". In our case, it was the demolition of the existing stairs and reconstruction of new.
The plans dated 1-2-18 state on the second page "existing stairs to be demolished." Our first estimate from him is January 10th. The stairs, ultimately, could not be demolished and replaced for whatever reason, and we, the homemaker made peace with that. But when I brought that up in front of Theo, (who wasn't there for the estimate process, and when we SHOWED Bill the stairs - so Theo had no idea, I want to be sure I don't implicate him AT ALL), Bill said, "I don't remember that." Well, the plans remember. And the emails do too.
Theo is a man of integrity, a hard worker, and really listens especially when you can sit down and talk him through stuff. He is passionate about what he does, and the work shows it. I would use him again, independent of Bill, at any time. Thank you Theo.
END NEW REVIEW
I am looking forward to amending this review if we can get our renovation finished. The biggest problem started when the 3rd floor addition was not tarped properly and it rained on first floor which is our living and dining room. So, we had to completely clear those rooms out. Which has led to us only being able to live in two rooms of our house. They treated their mess up like another part of the renovation and they STILL have not replaced the floors NOR hooked up the AC to the be other side of the house. My kitchen is literally Hell’s Kitchen. With two small kids, who both finish school this week, I don’t think I have to tell you how hard it is to not have even the part of the house that WAS supposed to be functional throughout the renovation working. See photos. Also, my yard is still a mess. Full of rusty nails and a rusty saw blade and the dumpster that hasn’t been taken away yet. So can’t send the kids outside. Bill didn’t include the windows as part of our estimate - so be aware of that. I find that fascinating. He also is claiming not to “remember” the original plans to demolish the stairs and rebuild them - a $5000 part of the renovation - even after haggling with us about windows - he said “he doesn’t remember” that the stairs were part of the estimate. I would like that off the top of the price. So- I sincerely look forward to amending this review if they can get their stuff together and finish this up. As a counter to the negativity - the upstairs work is beautiful.
