How much do plumbers charge per hour?
Depending on the service you need (unclogging a drain, fixing a pipe, installing new pipes, etc.), plumbers charge anywhere from $45-$165 per hour. Plumbers often operate on a fixed rate model, too. Some won’t charge hourly rates because the variables involved in their work makes it less practical to do so.
Plumbers will scope out the work, calculate the cost of parts, and roll it together with other fees to give you an estimate for the job. They may even offer standard flat rates for things like installing a toilet or a sink. Reach out to plumbers near you to get an accurate cost estimate for your project or repair.

I hate to write negative reviews because I know how damaging they can be. I usually give feedback privately unless it's 5-stars, then I post publicly. I have never IN MY LIFE written a 1-star review until now. But I wish I knew all of this before hiring this person months ago:
1. TARDY: He showed up late for the estimate, gave me the best price of all the quotes received. Then he showed up HOURRRSSS late for the actual job once hired, texting “On my way” all day long. I naively wanted to blindly support another black-owned business, so gave him the benefit of doubt.
2. UNPREPARED: Because he was missing materials, he left in the middle of the already late job, and later SENT ME TO THE STORE to get even more stuff for the job I was paying him for. He also did not come prepared with the correct valves that were compatible with the new lines. I later also found out that the drain that was supposed to be provided with the pipework, was not provided, and so my tile guy had to go get a drain to finish that portion of the job.
3. DISHONEST: Even though he came out days ahead to quote the job, he claimed he “DID NOT KNOW” of water access placement, so nearly doubled the initial quote after already cutting into my floors and walls. I expressed my displeasure with the drastic price change due to his oversight and mentioned it would be difficult to hire another plumber at this point, and his callous response was “it would have to get cut anyway."
4. NICKLE AND DIMED ME: In addition to doubling the estimate after tearing up my bathroom… Because he was not prepared with the correct valves (his words, not mine), he “offered” to come back out to put the valves back onto the lines for AN ADDITIONAL $400 if my tile guy "didn't feel comfortable doing it" for him. HE TOOK THEM OFF, expected someone else to put them back on, and would charge me even more than my doubled invoice to finish the job he was hired to do in the first place. Then he told me he should be charging $160 more than that, so he was doing me a favor.
5. DESTRUCTIVE: He dropped some piping through my floor, leaving a hole in my dining room ceiling downstairs, and all he had to say is “you have dry rot.” But not to worry because he “knows a guy” who can fix the hole he just made for a “decent price.” Anyone he would recommend is automatically on my no-call list. He left the hole and the mess in the dining room.
6. SLOPPY/ LAZY/ INCOMPLETE: The tub caulk job (if I can call it that, because he used silicone and it is messy and ugly) was hastily done, and I will have to pay someone else to redo the unsightly work. The showerhead he installed was leaking. I let him know immediately. Some piping that was supposed to be fixed in place, was instead loose. Instead of cutting the access hole for the loose pipe (which, again was not even supposed to be loose), he drew a circle where he expected someone else to cut access to his pipework later. I let him know all the feedback from the contractor that was onsite, expressing how many things were left undone from the plumbing job, which would slow down the rest of the bathroom renovation. I asked him if he would come back out to finish the job since he was already paid for it!
7. UNPROFESSIONAL: His response was "Would you really want to put old copper valves on PEX lines? Doesn't work like that." He justified not completing the job, then made no attempts to fix it. He ignored every phone call and did not text back even after I told him how I felt living with a botched job where the price and service were both falsely advertised. I got no response until I threatened to write a NEGATIVE REVIEW. THIS REVIEW. His attitude when he came back to my home was nasty. Like he was doing me a favor for coming back out and pretending to fix his TRASH WORK.
8. UPDATE: The showerhead he was supposed to be fixing when he came back out still leaks in the same exact spot, to this very day. The leak has now stained my gorgeous new tile/ grout. I later found out from a handyman that he left a GAPING HOLE behind my vanity, which left my bathroom freezing all winter. I had to hire someone to close it. The wrong wax ring was installed in my toilet, so two different parts of my master bathroom are leaking into my dining room ceiling because of his work (my dining room ceiling was torn down today, and I am having his work fixed at this very moment). Literally, everything he touched in my home needed to be redone- and I am paying more than twice times as much as I would have paid had I just hired literally anyone else. Every professional who has worked in my home since has discouraged me from ever hiring this company/ contractor again. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!
I wrote and saved this review for SO LONG because I did not want to damage anyone’s reputation (although the 3-star Google rating at the time should have been warning enough -THE GOOGLE BUSINESS PAGE HAS CONVENIENTLY BEEN DELETED). But the more time goes by, the more I am learning he really botched every part of my job and did not deserve my money. Watching my dining room be torn apart was the push I needed to share this. If you care about your investment, think twice before hiring this “plumber.” Now that I know he is deleting profiles with too many negative reviews, I will post this anywhere I find he has a profile because people need to know what they are paying for.
