Joyce G. says, "Handy had their guy promptly at my home at 9am and he quickly got 8 light fixtures installed, and did a simple washer hose changed out so the washing machine could be moved a foot farther out of the way as the original hose was too short to allow the unit to fit how it was intended. All work was completed within 3 hours. Unfortunately when it was time to pay, there was quite a miscommunication. I had been told that the tasks that I had requested would be $59 per hour with a 2 hour minimum so my expectation was to pay $177 for the 3 hours, however I was charged $553, which was more than I paid for all of the light fixtures combined! Apparently hanging light fixtures has a hidden fee of $79 per fixture which I was not told the day prior when the job was set up. On top of that, I was charged an additional $158 minimum 2 hour handyman fee because of the quick hose change out for the washing machine. When I asked questions regarding the charge, the owner threatened to take down all the fixtures. It was quite an ordeal and it made me feel very uncomfortable. I felt very misled and would not have hired this company if I knew having fixtures installed was going to cost more than I paid for the fixtures themselves. Most companies charge $40-$50 per fixture. The only reason I hired them was because it was supposed to be hourly. I gave 4 stars on behalf of the employee who did the work. He was punctual and quick at getting the job done. The communication from the customer service was terrible and I feel that I was tricked, and then threatened. And the owner said he’d make it up to me by giving a 2 hour credit for future handyman work, but I have yet to see that unfortunately."See more
