I recently had my consult/first lesson with Matt. He definitely seems to love music. During the first meeting, we discussed my goals, what music kind of music I was interested in, and assessed my current skills (as previously played an instrument and could read music). He said his lessons are composed of learning notes/piano through particular songs/pieces, technical practice (with a metronome), sight reading, playing together (while he is on the guitar), and tuning your ear. We definitely did all of these things during the first consultation/lesson. His studio is in-house, but everything is very clean and he has quality instruments to practice on.

I have been taking lessons with Hiroko for nearly a year, and working with her has rekindled my love for playing piano. Hiroko is an extremely gifted teacher, and her lessons combine rigor with patience, creativity, and humor. I took lessons during my childhood and teenage years, but hadn’t played seriously in nearly 20 years. We began by building back up basic fundamentals, both through exercises and pieces; thanks to Hiroko’s approach to teaching, within a few months, I was playing more complex pieces than I ever could before. She curated a series of pieces from different composers to start off, then once she understood what I enjoyed most, tailored what we played to my favorite composers and styles. I have an unpredictable work schedule and she has been so kind and flexible with scheduling, and when we do meet, it is a highlight of my week. I can’t recommend Hiroko highly enough!

Ms Hiroko is the best! She's a great teacher who provides support and encouragement along the journey from learning to read music to preparing to perform a piece at a recital. She is also extremely flexible with scheduling which I super appreciate! She's passionate about music and helping others who share that interest. I've learned so much over the past 7 or so months since starting my lessons, and continue to grow in skill as I continue that process. One other thing I enjoyed: she is very open to teaching you whatever genre of music you prefer - whether classical or modern rock/pop. She's also just a friendly and enjoyable person in general to bring into your life - which is just a bonus to her advanced musical talent and teaching abilities. I would recommend Ms Hiroko to anyone interested in learning to play the piano, or improve upon their current skill level!
