I started with Paul about 4 months ago, as a “senior” who has played guitar most of my life. I was a total beginner with no experience, wanting to take a few lessons to see if I would like drums . Paul started me off learning to read drum music and started with skills and drills for repeatable strokes, working on my stroke technique and demonstrating how to play. After a few weeks, we started doing beats on his drum set, and along the way he has been adding on beats, foot technique, hi hat technique, and intros and exits from songs. He will play a song on his guitar while I drum to the beats he has taught me so I am learning to keep tempo and play along to a song. His experience and knowledge is superb, and his teaching skills are personable. He has shown me beats for rock, blues, jazz, Latin. He helped me set up my drumset, showed me how to tune the drums, and has made recommendations for add ons to the set. Paul loves drumming and teaching and is passionate about music and is a pleasure to work with.
