We have done both virtual and in person lessons since then, & we have been absolutely blown away with how quickly he learned to read music & play piano with teacher Julia instructing him. Teacher Julia is so patient, kind, & she knows how to engage & keep her students interest. We have been impressed with how teacher Julia teaches the foundational skills thoroughly, incorporating theory lessons, & picking music selections that both engage and excite her students. She has found the perfect balance of challenging our son to grow, while allowing him to move at his own pace. We have seen incredible growth throughout his 3 years Julia as his instructor. Even with teacher Julia moving to another state, we have opted to continue doing private virtual lessons because of the incredible relationship she has built with both our son and our family & she has proven to be an incredible teacher who continues to help our son flourish musically."See more

He is disciplined in his approach; no short cuts or progressing a student just for the sake of appeasing a parents desire to get from level 1 to 10. He allows us to suggest and play music we like as well as well as work on theory, which has helped everyone. My older son accelerated in jr orchestra (mariba). So when Maya turned 6 me and my wife contacted Almaden School of Music and Art" looking to sign her up for music classes. After trying couple of teachers it became clear to us that we were not satisfied with the teachers due to their strict nature making the class dreadful. Gladly we finally landed couple of sessions with Debora and instantly knew that she would be the right teacher. The reason we were extremely happy with Debora because she specifically knew how to teach kids. She was very professional but made the class fun and that was key because we were in it for the long term. Debora style of teaching was pragmatic and most important of all she made sure that the our Kid was always interested and engaged. We worked with Debora for six years and she was extremely professional. I recommend Debora to anyone who wants to learn Piano. You will NOT be disappointed."See more

Tobi is an amazing piano teacher and I couldn’t recommend someone more. I’m an adult student and have been taking lessons with Tobi for the past 7 months. At a high level, she is a great instructor who has really helped me learn. I really enjoy working with her and am very proud of my progress. I’ve played at a recital which was a great learning experience and have gotten great feedback from friends who have heard me play. This is testament to the guidance and teaching I’ve received from Tobi. On a more granular level, she is very detail oriented (laser focused on learning all the intricacies of a piece such as hand placement, timing, dynamics, pedaling etc.), very patient (understanding when I have bad weeks and makes a big effort to be encouraging), and makes a big effort to go through your learning journey with you. I’ve learned so much over just 6 months and have gone from a complete beginner to being confident to play simple pieces in LAX airport as people walk by. I’m more interested in pop pieces, and Tobi has been great about giving me the right balance between theory, typical progression pieces that help me learn, and pieces that spark my interest as something I’d really like to be able to play. For example, currently I’m learning a Chopin piece while also learning All of Me by John Legend. She’s very flexible in terms of tailoring lessons around your goals and is very attentive to what interests you as a student. Each week you leave with a homework sheet containing specific things to work on for the week. This includes scales, warm up exercises, various pieces you’re currently working on and detailed notes to go along with them. It takes approx. 20-30 minutes to run through this homework once each day. Tobi is really good at identifying your strengths and makes sure to use that asset to your advantage as you learn. This has made lessons thoroughly enjoyable and has kept me motivated. She also gets the right balance between pieces that suit your level and ones that challenge you to be better. You won’t go wrong by choosing to work with Tobi!
