I’ve been debating whether to write a review for quite some time but ultimately concluded I should share my experience. I hired Friend’s Moving Company to move a ~$2,000 upright piano for me. Before purchasing the piano, I sent them pictures of my stairwell in advance to ensure the piano could be moved up the stairs ok. They confirmed it would be fine. It took them several hours to get the piano up the stairs. When they brought it into my apartment, they told me the stairwell was destroyed. The drywall was knocked down in multiple places and it was a disaster. The piano was dented and damaged. They sent someone out within a day or two to patch up the drywall and clean the stairs but it was an incredibly stressful experience. And the piano is now scuffed and dented. They still charged me for their services, which I think is crazy. If they had told me at the outset that they wouldn’t be able to get the piano in without damaging the walls, I would have either asked them not to move it, would have stored it elsewhere, or not purchased the piano at all. Not only did I still have to pay for their services, but now I also have to deal with moving the piano out of my apartment and causing further damage. If they had asked me in the first place before forcing the piano up the stairs, I wouldn’t be in this situation. I’m frustrated they didn’t even offer to refund me. Pictures are below. The stairwell is after I vacuumed up all of the drywall fragments.

Jamie and team did an awesome job moving an upright piano yesterday. They were punctual, and upon arrival they took their time to assess the best way possible to move the very heavy piano. They saw us struggling moving some other large furniture with a small dolly, so they offered help and let us borrow their big dolly while they loaded up. Super nice guys. If I could give these guys more stars, I would. Jorge and his team moved an upright piano for me from Orinda to SF. I was told by the person at the pick-up location they were extremely careful and professional. When Jorge and team arrived to drop off the piano and bring it up 3 flights of stairs, I can attest that they were nothing short of courteous, professional, fast and extremely careful with the piano. They set the piano exactly where I wanted it, they took care not to damage or scratch anything and they did it very swiftly. Jorge's crew was also very courteous to pedestrians on the sidewalk, making sure nothing was left in the way on the sidewalk and making room for pedestrians very quickly when they needed to pass by.
I would not hesitate to recommend Jorge's team to anyone looking to move an upright piano and I would definitely use Castro Moving Services in the future. I am glad I worked with these guys, especially with their competitive pricing, speed and care. Thank you Jorge, and thanks also to the two crew members you had with you to help with the piano.

The team did a great job moving my piano from my garage to my den. They were extremely careful. They clearly had experience moving paints. They were also very helpful in noticing issues on the bottom of the piano that might scratch my wood floor and helped me with a solution. They came the same day. Showed up on time. And we’re very reasobably priced. I’d definitely use them again.
