Lynne Chism says, "I first heard about Built to Perfection and Shay from my niece. She and her husband had an unusual space off their master bedroom turned into a bathroom with a walk in shower. It is beautiful! When I needed work done at my home, my niece suggested your company and Shay. She met Shay at my home and he came up with plans to renovate my front porch, which was literally falling down. His subcontractors were skilled and efficient. The front porch turned out great with more space somehow and handrails which were needed. There was painting too and rain gutters installed. I will call Shay and Built to Perfection when I need other construction projects done. Thank you Shay and Built to Perfection!! I forgot to mention that your company replaced my front door. It is perfect!"See more

Sicoh H. says, "BD Home Renovation finished our kitchen remodel last year, and I was recently contacted to leave a review of their work... To start off, our kitchen went from tiny and closed-in to this big, bright space that's perfect for cookin' and havin' people over. They did a bunch of stuff - new floors throughout the whole kitchen, fixed any cracks in the walls, and even knocked down part of a wall to let in more light. Plus, they got us all new appliances - no more fightin' with that old fridge! The coolest part though is definitely the new island with a white matte granite top. It's gorgeous and gives us a ton of space to cook and have breakfast in the mornings. The only snag was the city permit stuff. It took like 3 months to get everything approved, which kinda slowed things down. Not sure if it was the city or BD Home Renovation, but hey, it all worked out in the end. Most importantly, the quality of the work is top-notch. They didn't cut any corners, and everything looks and works amazing. We're so happy with our new kitchen!"See more

Mike B. says, "We did extensive remodeling at our mid-century modern home and contracted with California Remodeling Construction. The scope included interior floors, all new closets, a patio remodel and a very tricky restoration of structural roof beams. The work performed has been among the best work we have done with any contractors. The interior work was also very fast. The floors, travertine and river stone look amazing. The closets are built in and required heave customization, refitting and wall/ drywall work. Everything turned out with exceptional attention to detail. The beam restoration was tricky as we needed to "implant" new wood at the end of the beams due to over 60 years of rain water exposure at the end. We wanted to maximize a solution that uses wood and minimize the use of wood epoxy. The results are absolutely phenomenal and the 18 beams are so well restored that they will probably last another 60 years without any issue. We can't thank Dimitrii enough, who did all the work. He is extremely knowledgeable and diligent. I have never worked with anybody else who paid that much attention to detail. And even better, for complicated issues, the creativity and invention in problem solving was second to none. Alexei communicated often. When we added to the scope, it was handled immediately and we were always aware of scope, costs and add-ons. Truly a fantastic experience and we plan on working with the team for many other projects."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best waterproof flooring for a basement?

There are several great options for waterproof basement flooring. For example, epoxy floors are waterproof but are thicker and sturdier than paint. Make sure the concrete substrate has been prepared for application.

Tile is a designer’s dream, giving you a moisture-resistant surface that’s infinitely customizable. Rubber sheets or tiles are also good waterproof options, particularly for playrooms, workout areas or laundry rooms.

Vinyl tiles and planks imitate wood or other materials very convincingly, provide moisture resistance and last a long time. And sheet vinyl is affordable and a great waterproofing solution for those in need of quick fixes.
