We are two brothers born and raised in the lake country area and we are now raising families of our own here too. Our love for Wisconsin continues to grow as each season comes and goes. With our experience in landscaping and landscape distribution, we saw that the overuse of chemical herbicides and synthetic fertilizers over the past few decades has severely damaged the ecosystem we call home. The question that we were ultimately faced with, was, what is the solution? We found permaculture and food forestry to be just that and we have dedicated our lives to growing plants that not only have the ability to heal our landscapes but also provide food and medicine for us. We have developed one of the most diverse edible and medicinal plant selections specifically tailored to our growing zone. We are outside every single day interacting with and maintaining these plants, stratifying seeds, rooting cuttings, grafting fruit trees and experimenting with unusual varieties. One of the most common questions we get is, "you can actually grow that here?" Some of the plants may surprise you! With that being said, there is some very conflicting information online about what you can and can't grow in our climate. That is why we have been experimenting at our nursery, so that you don't have to! Our nursery is situated at the highest point in Rubicon about 1,100' in elevation. Our plants are well acclimated to high winds and cold temperatures, ensuring that you are getting the hardiest plants we can provide for our community. We use only biodynamic and organic compost and potting soil. Absolutely no chemicals, gmos or synthetic fertilizers are used to grow our plants. We strive to provide plants that are not only hardy but will produce the most nutrient dense food and medicine for you and your family.See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have someone hang your Christmas lights?

It will likely cost between $200 and $400 to hire someone to hang your Christmas lights and holiday decorations. For an accurate cost estimate, ask installers near you to give you a price quote. Let them know if you need them to supply the lights, how many you want to hang and other details about this project.

When should you hang Christmas lights?

There’s no set rule of when you should or shouldn’t hang your Christmas lights. Some homeowners wait until after Halloween or Thanksgiving. Others may choose to hang them a few weeks before Christmas or at the beginning of December.

What do you use to hang Christmas lights outside?

If you want to hang up Christmas lights (or other holiday light fixtures) outdoors, you’ll need the following:

  • Christmas and holiday lights
  • Extension cords
  • Gloves
  • Gutter clips
  • Ladder
  • Power stakes
  • Tape measure

Instead of hanging the Christmas lights yourself, you can hire a professional installer to take care of this project for you.

What is the best way to hang Christmas lights on your house?

The best way to hang Christmas lights on your house is to use some type of light clip (sometimes called gutter clips). To help ensure your safety, however, consider hiring a professional installer who has experience with hanging Christmas lights, handling electrical cords and using ladders.

How many feet of Christmas lights do you need for a house?

You’ll need to measure your house to figure out how many Christmas lights you need. Some homeowners may want to start with 60 feet of lights — or 200 feet. You can take the guesswork out of it by hiring a professional installer or handy person to help you measure and install your lights.

How much do I tip Christmas light installers?

How much you tip an installer who hangs your Christmas and holiday lighting is up to your discretion. Some people prefer to tip about 20% for services, while others may choose to tip anywhere from $20-$50. It’s up to you how much you choose to tip.
