FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually bill $50/hr with an amount not to be exceeded. For example if you have a remodel project I think will take 60 hours, I will write a service proposal with a $1000 down payment covering 20 hours, then every 2 weeks I will bill based on my hours worked up to $3000 or 60 billed hours. For smaller garage projects I do a project total. For example $2000 total: $1000 down payment to begin, $500 due at submission, and $500 when you obtain your building permit.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to start with a phone call or in person meeting to learn more about your project, what you want it to accomplish and your timeline. After I will research your property by address to determine options and feasibility before I sent a service proposal. If we decide to move forward I will collect a down payment and perform a comprehensive site visit before beginning drawings. After about 15 days I will send you my progress, we will make design changes and move forward with engineering and developing construction documents, then we are ready to submit for a building permit so we can get to the fun stuff.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked as an architectural drafter for 8 years now. I studied B.I.M. and CAD technology at South Puget Sound Community College. I have worked as a drafter for a residential construction company, a custom home designer, a commercial casework manufacturer, and currently at an architectural firm. I have also worked in the field as a carpenters apprentice and have been interested in buildings my whole life.
