Olá! Hello! I am a Brazilian-Canadian linguist based in Vancouver, Canada, since 2009, where I work as a Language Instructor and Tutor, a Certified Translator, and a Court/Legal/Medical/Conference Interpreter for English & Brazilian Portuguese. I strive to provide all my clients with a great opportunity to learn Brazilian Portuguese and become more familiar with Brazilian Culture and History through fun, diverse, and customized lessons with me: a very friendly and professional linguist with a very long and broad experience as a language instructor and tutor (since 2000). I have a vast experience in teaching and learning languages: in addition to Brazilian Portuguese (my mother tongue) and English (my second language since I was 11), I also speak Spanish as well as some French and Italian. As I am very passionate about languages, world history, and different cultures, I really enjoy travelling, being in contact with people from other countries, listening to their stories, learning from their experiences and different cultural lenses, and certainly working with them in the best way I can so as to help them attain their goal of learning Brazilian Portuguese. So far, I've had the pleasure of working with people from 32 different countries... and counting :) TEXTBOOK In addition to providing my students with access to lots of free educational resources and materials, I normally advise them to buy the textbook "Muito Prazer: Fale o Português do Brasil", which can be found on Amazon in its Kindle and Paper versions. Renato was excellent, I only started with the trail session but I learned so much in such little time. I am definitely going to purchase a package to really start understanding. Renato has been an exceptional Portuguese tutor! In a remarkably short period, he equipped me with the language skills necessary for my trip to Brazil. Thanks to his teaching, I could effectively communicate with my customers and assist them in their native language, eliminating the need for English. Renato has been an outstanding Portuguese teacher over the last two years. I would consider myself a bit of a linguaphile after spending many years studying Japanese throughout high school and university with some private lessons years later, a couple of college level linguistics, and some formal study of German, which is mostly non-existant. However, my ear for Portuguese wasn't good and my knowledge of it was non-existent. After trying to teach myself via Duo-lingo and Rosetta stone with no success, I gave up as I realized learning Brazilian Portuguese is much different than any other romance language and we Americans just aren't used to hearing it spoken unlike French and Spanish. I reached out to Renato to help build the foundations for speaking Portuguese for a then-upcoming trip to Brazil and Renato presented a challenging curriculum. The result of two and a half months of 2-weekly Portuguese lessons built a solid foundation of basic Portuguese that made communicating in Brazil an interesting experience, which was also a learning experience. I came back to the US and have since continued my lessons to now understand Portuguese better than I did even after I came back from Brazil in 2013. Whether if your lessons are in person or via Skype, his approach to teaching Portuguese is tailored to each of his student's language learning ability and each is never mundane and always full of new things to learn and remember. If you're looking for an excellent Portuguese teacher Renato's your person and be prepared for some challenging assignments that will stretch your mind.

Renato is a tremendous asset to anyone attempting to learn Portuguese, whether starting as a complete novice or trying to understand the nuances of Brazilian Portuguese. He has a command, understanding and method that greatly enhance the learning process. He is adept at explaining the subtleties of the language, and he makes each lesson entertaining. Using Skype as a teaching medium also works quite well. Materials can be exchanged in advance for review. During each lesson, Renato provides a running commentary on terms that arise during the lesson, areas for review, and corrections. This is particularly helpful as it provides the student with a reference that is tailored to each lesson. If you have a video connection and setup, then a video Skype session is even better. I would recommend Renato highly to anyone with a genuine interest in furthering their development and understanding in Brazilian Portuguese. He has helped me greatly.

Renato Pereira has been my Portuguese instructor since the fall of 2014. He is very professional, in that he is very knowledgeable about the Portuguese language, he knows how to teach language and he is organized. Despite the lessons are via Skype, they have nonetheless been very effective in assisting me to improve my Portuguese. Renato makes it a point to assess and to address the individual learning needs of this students and he goes out of his way to tailor teaching sessions, homework and optional extra study assignments to those needs. He is very perceptive in catching and correcting my grammar errors during conversational practice and during homework review and is always open to answer questions. Renato is reliable and responsible in that he is always present at the designated lesson time. I would recommend Renato as an excellent Portuguese language instructor.

Here are the most popular options: Packages of Lesson Hours and DISCOUNTS: * 06 hours of class = $240 [only US$40 per hour / Valid for 6 weeks] * 09 hours of class = $315 [only US$35 per hour / Valid for 8 weeks] * 12 hours of class = $360 [only US$30 per hour / Valid for 10 weeks]
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Everything starts with a FREE 1-hour trial lesson, during which I have a chance to talk to my prospective students, have a better idea of their level, and suggest a study plan and materials depending on their goals.
