FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The most common way I quote a job is with a fixed price - that way the client knows up front what it will cost and we are all in agreement before we proceed.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Depends a little on what they are looking for. For a custom furniture project, I will discuss the client's requirements, needs and desires with them and help them craft a plan and/or a design for the solution. I will prepare an estimate for the work of both the cost, type of materials and finishes we plan to use and the production time, so we can make sure it is a match for the clients needs and budget. If so, we move forward with a deposit so I can purchase materials and I get to work!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a 3rd generation carpenter - both my grandfather and my father were cabinet makers and furniture carpenters. My earliest memories are sitting beside my grandfather in his workshop watching him work. He was a reknowned specialist in decorative french furntuire, such as the Louis 14th/15th style. I grew up in a carpentry shop in Argentina and have spent over 30 years as a working professional perfecting my craft in Argentina, Spain and the United States. I have worked independently with my own studio, collaborating with cutting edge architects and designers. I have also worked in large mass production furniture factories - in Argentina as Head of Quality Control and in Spain as a Specialty Furniture Carpenter.
