He resolved my immediate problem by snow-blowing the roof, removing as much ice as possible from the gutter, and removing part of the gutter guard (per my request). Water stopped leaking into my living room, and I'm very grateful for that help. The issue turned out to be built-up ice that had raised some roof tiles and melted under the roofline. The rep explained the work he performed as well as work he didn't perform (because doing so might cause damage). So he was careful and thoughtful.
