We retained Cristi to photograph my birthday party. We were impressed by his professionalism and warm personality and thrilled with his work. He took over 700 creative photos, in both color and black and white, which beautifully display the fun, excitement, intimacy and emotion of the attendees and the event. The composition and lighting were excellent. He took multiple, excellent photos of everyone, and covered the entire event without ever interrupting the flow of the party. Our outdoor event fell on one of the hottest days imaginable. Jake was absolutely awesome!! Great communication before, during and after the event, super personality, easy to work with and his professionalism was superb. Jake arrived early with a great attitude despite the heat. He took candid shots of the event, staged portrait shots, along with scenery shots of the venue. Photos were ready for viewing in less then a day. Jake's work ethic is outstanding! I am extremely satisfied with Z. Miller Photography. We hired Zach for a new event on the National Mall for upwards of 700 people. Since this was a new event, we needed someone who was flexible and creative. Zach is just that. He suited up with a participant Tshirt and fit right in with the rest of the crowd. Zach and I had little contact before the event, but he is quick to get a handle on everything! I was very impressed from the first conversation with his professionalism and ability to see the full picture. Additionally, we asked for the photos (unedited) immediately following the event, and he delivered. We couldn't be happier with the results and hope to use his talent again!

Mr. Halling was wonderful! He was very responsive to any questions I had prior to the event. During the event he was so easy to work with, kind and friendly. He got all the shots I requested and many, many more. The images were gorgeous and available in less than a week after the event. One of my guests was so impressed with his work during the event that she asked for his information. I would highly recommend Mr. Halling if you need a professional photographer. Cristi is an amazing photographer... he was very kind and patient throughout the event and took a lot more pictures. he covered the whole event thoroughly. he even stayed much longer then our fixed time. he had no tantrums. all the pictures were great :) And also his charges were very reasonable. Can’t say enough good things about Emily! We originally had her for a full 7 hours for our wedding, when it became clear we couldn’t do the event we had planned she was extremely understanding after first canceling and then agreeing to do a significantly scaled down event. She was great about directing our first look as well as corralling all of our relatives (and dog) for family photos. During the event she was great at making sure we got important shots without being a bother or getting in the way. The end product turned out amazing and the quality couldn’t have been better! I highly recommend Emily and would certainly use her again in the future! Thank you Emily so much for capturing the special day in the best way possible!

Laurie was great to work with, professional and did an outstanding job with the photos for my son's engagement party. Although she is located in Baltimore she came down to Arlington Virginia for our event without any problem. She was reliable and delivered exactly what she agreed to in the time period she said she would. Also, the finished product was fantastic!! Ramiz was punctual, easy to work with, responsive to all my messages and the outcome of the photos was really nice. I have to share my experience because maybe it will help a future client understand the need to be very clear with Ramiz about what is and is not acceptable during a performance or event. Ramiz was concerned about getting the best photos possible but didn't take our guests or our performers in consideration. He was shooting our music & dance performance which was on a proper stage with paying ticket buyers seated. He walked onto to the stage in front of the audience and shot photos while dancers were trying to focus on their form and musicians were also trying to give their best. It was extremely distracting for the performers. He turned to take photos of the audience with the flash on many times and they too were upset. I received many complaints and even had to refund some tickets because some people left because it was super distracting to them.
I am sure that if I had spoken with Ramiz in advance about this, he would not have been so distracting, in fact after the first few numbers our tour coordinator asked him to stop and he did for the remainder of the show. I think the point I want to make is that you must not assume that he will do what is best for the photo - so be very clear with him about what is acceptable and what is not.
Having said all of this, I would hire him again with very clear expectations because I truly believe his mistake was not meant to be intentionally harmful.

I am writing this review with immense disappointment regarding the services provided by Derrick as the photographer and videographer for my friend's engagement party. Initially, Derrick displayed professionalism and responsiveness, but unfortunately, his behavior took a drastic turn once full payment was made. We had a signed contract clearly stating that the deliverables, including both pictures and videos, would be provided within three weeks. Regrettably, Derrick failed to adhere to this agreed-upon timeline, and my experience was marred by several issues.
After waiting patiently for four weeks without receiving anything from Derrick, I decided to reach out to him to inquire about the status of the pictures and videos. To my dismay, the pictures I eventually received were minimally edited and fell far short of professional quality. When I raised my concerns about the videos, Derrick brushed it off, claiming that video production takes longer. While I understood the time required for videos, I gave him an additional month to complete them. However, when I followed up with him again, he responded with nothing more than vague promises of delivering them "soon" without providing any specific timeline.
Despite my extended patience and granting him an extra two weeks, Derrick continued to ignore my attempts to communicate through texts and emails. Frustrated after four months of waiting, I decided to involve Thumbtack by opening a case against him. It was only then that Derrick finally responded, citing an emergency as the reason for his lack of communication. However, considering his previous behavior, I found it challenging to trust his explanation and doubted whether he had any of my videos at all. It took five months after the event for him to submit the videos.
Not only did Derrick fail to fulfill our agreement, which involved capturing short videos of guest messages for the newly engaged couple, but he also neglected to capture a significant number of pictures. Moreover, the videos he eventually provided were of subpar quality, falling well below the professional standard I had expected. Derrick was hired for a five-hour duration specifically to capture pictures and videos.
Engagement party is a once-in-a-lifetime moment that cannot be recreated. It is exceedingly disappointing that the person we entrusted to capture this significant occasion failed to deliver, ultimately tarnishing the memories that should have been preserved forever. I strongly caution against hiring Derrick for any photography or videography services, as his lack of professionalism, failure to meet deadlines, and subpar work quality have left me feeling extremely dissatisfied and regretful of my decision.
