Introduction

Hello! My name is Treyan. I offer a free introductory lesson in which I demonstrate the unique method that I teach, and how it is different from all other teaching styles. I teach piano, but with an emphasis on improvisation, arrangement, and songwriting, using theory as the foundation. This teaching method gives the student a thorough understanding of musical theory, while at the same time allowing them to learn in a very creative environment. I am so happy to have found Treyan as a piano teacher! He is not only knowledgeable but also fun and inspiring. He’s helping me understand not just music theory, but how it’s actually applied in practice. As an adult with years of classical training who took a 20-year break from studying music, I now want to learn how to jam, play jazz and blues, and truly play from the heart. He has a very wide range of talent and spans across all genres. I highly recommend him if you are looking for some inspiration to improve your piano playing skills!!.

I took lessons from my grandma as a young kid, and hadn't had a lesson in over 20 years when I started to look for a teacher. I was a little a anxious about being able to find a teacher I liked that would also be able to teach me the things I wanted to learn, but it became clear from the very first lesson that Treyan easily had all of the bases covered and more. I haven't asked a question yet that he didn't immediately have answers for. Not only does he have tons of knowledge, but he also has the skill to demonstrate everything I asked about with a high degree of proficiency. From beginner concepts to advanced theory and songwriting, Treyan has it all. You will absolutely not be disappointed if you choose to pick up Treyan as your piano teacher.

Trey is very personable, conversational, and friendly! He takes the time to get to know his students and what their goals are in taking piano lessons with him. I was raised taking very traditional piano lessons which gave me a lot of fundamentals but I never learned the freedom of just playing the piano without sheet music in front of me. Treyan is great at marrying those two skills together. You need fundamentals..scales, chords, arpeggios and you learn those from him but then you learn how to make those skills practical and play whatever genre you’re interested in. It opened my eyes to a whole new way to play the piano.

Treyan is a fantastic teacher. He goes above and beyond for his students. I started taking lessons again after a many years long hiatus.
