If you proceed with the repair, the fee is credited; otherwise, it compensates for the technician's time. Electrical diagnostics are billed hourly. My riding mower had more of an issue than first thought. It turned out that it needed a new carburetor which the technician happened to have with him. He worked hard on that hot day but after a couple of hours, he had it running but strongly suggested that I replace the spark plug, air filter, and change the oil and filter, which I later did. The mower runs better but still surges so it probably needs an adjustment to the carburetor. I’m not familiar with such things so I’ll probably need to have someone do it for me. Other than that, the technician worked hard and did a pretty good job considering.
