Introduction
My name is Gil Del Bosque. I’m currently only teaching lessons via FaceTime, zoom, Skype and or any other online format. My main instruments are the saxophone and clarinet. I have 15 years of teaching and performing experience. I just received my master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and before that, a bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. I am well-rounded in both classical and jazz. I performed in many of the TMEA All State bands during high school, so I am familiar with the classical literature of the saxophone and clarinet. I make my living as a professional musician and a private lessons teacher in the ATX area. Performing in such notable jazz clubs like the Elephant Room, Brass House, One 2 One, and Sullivan's Steakhouse under my name and with some of ATX top jazz artists. I currently hold a studio of 40 students, ranging from ages 11 to 30. I have also done masterclasses in all levels of education, from elementary to collegiate level. I love teaching and playing my instrument and being a student of music myself, and I am eager to share my knowledge! Please visit my website, Youtube channel, or my Facebook page for videos and audio recordings! Contact me for a free 30 minute intro lesson to see if I am a good fit for you!

My son has been receiving private saxophone lessons from Gil for over 3 years. Gil has helped my son tremendously. Gil is wonderful to work with....flexible and accomodating, knowledgable and talented. His interaction with students is respectful and kind and communicates his expectations clearly. I highly recommend Gil.

Gil del Bosque is a skillful teacher and diagnostician with both feet on real-world ground. Gil is a saxophonist performing in the Austin area, which helps keep the focus on *creating the music and sound* the student is seeking. Yes the "academic" information is there too, but the focus is creating the sound and music you want to make. In the first lesson Gil pinpointed critical embouchure issues that made a remarkable change in my practice that week. In each of the next 2 lessons (I've had 3 so far) Gil has seen and corrected issues which made noticeable improvements each time for the week's practice. Quality of sound is paramount to me, and I'm hearing improvements weekly. Realistic steps forward. I'd especially like to mention how flexible and reality-based our working lessons are. There are no achievement expectations - that is, Gil listens to where you are *now* and works from there. It's irrelevant whether it took 2-3 hours of practice a day or 20 minutes every other day to get there -- you are where you are. [Put another way, no wasted time on reviewing your practice schedule; just get on with the next thing.] Assignments may not sound fun or glamorous, but they *are* effective and therefore rewarding because I'm making progress. Gil works easily with the excited kid in me who (finally) has a new tenor sax while keeping the discussion on an adult level. If you want to play music and think you're too old or it has been too long since you last took a look at notes on a staff, I say go with Gil. My last ("real") music lesson was 51 years ago, and my last music class was in 6th grade (almost 50 years ago, when we played soprano recorders for a few weeks). Even so, I'm making progress in creating good sound on my tenor sax.

Gil Del Bosque continues to be a terrific saxophone teacher for my middle school-aged daughter. He is patient and knowledgable, and she looks forward to her lessons, which says a lot!

Mr. Del Bosque was a very good teacher for the three years I had him as my private lessons teacher. He will teach you all you need to know to be a successful saxophonist. He will teach you the fundementals like scales, tonal excerises, arpeggios, etc. When I was in middle school, I made the TMEA All Region Band with his critique and help. But I feel that Mr. Del Bosque could've taught at a faster pace because the pace felt slow to me, but that's just my preference. It really depends on the person. Overall, Mr. Del Bosque was a great teacher and will be perfect for anyone who's looking to start to play the saxophone or already has been playing, but is looking for professional help.
Gil Del Bosque's reply
Hi Brandon, Thank you for your nice review. I am sorry you felt the lessons where slow. I like to have a good foundation on everything that is done. Moving to fast will sometimes lead to not absorbing the material correctly. Keep playing and practicing! Gil
