Introduction

I am a music composer, songwriter, musician, and instructor. Music has guided me to many places and has given me a unique collection of stories and experiences that I would like to share with the world. Starting my music education at the age of 12 and touring the world at the age of 17, I have been performing live consistently and has been part of and performed with bands signed to major labels such as Warner Brothers, Island Def Jam, and Columbia Records. I've had the opportunity to be on some big stages, touring and being direct support for band such as Tove Lo, Imagine Dragons, The 1975, ZZ Ward, and many others. I've also had an appearance on the Late Late Show with James Corden. I've received some musical training in Houston, Nashville, Los Angeles & Austin, TX and also through Berklee College of Music. I play live, teach, record, and compose daily.

Charlie is great with all kids. He can teach them and rock out with them, which are difficult qualities to find in a teacher. He also has patience and is very helpful with issues that come up. I have a lefty and a righty and both are learning quickly and have a strong passion to learn more.

Charlie is a wonderful teacher! He makes the lesson fun and keeps my son interested (which is not always easy with a 7 year old :) He is very patient and positive and works well with all age levels.

My daughter has been taking drum lessons from Charlie for 4 months and she’s learned so much - he is easy for her to talk to and explains things well for her. He’s also very patient when she gets goofy and finds other music-related things to do to distract her but also still teach her and keep her learning about music. Thanks!!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Some people are visual learners, some audible, some need to change directions every 2-3 minutes, it all just depends on the individual! Let's talk and find out what you want to learn and what kind of pace you want to learn it at. We will set goals and conquer them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied music for about 20 years now. I have had many teachers all over the states, in Houston, Austin, Nashville, & Los Angeles. I have studied with Berklee College of Music and obtained a Professional Bass Guitar Certificate. I have worked with the School of Dance and Music in Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Redondo Beach, CA and at Band Aid School of Music in Austin, TX. I am currently self employed and teaching privately with a studio in the south Austin area. Lamar/Oltorf.
