FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I prefer to visit the job site and discuss the project to give accurate quotes but can give rough estimates for most standard projects. Photos, square footage, type or scope of project, or scaled plans/drawings are all helpful in determining an estimate. For residential jobs I collect a 20% to 50% down payment on the start day of the project based on the size and scope of the project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After initial contact, I like to meet with the customer (and/or designer) on the job site to discuss the details of the job (Unless it is new construction - plans/drawings available only or a very simple small job), then I provide a labor estimate within 12-48 hrs, I can include a materials estimate if needed, and hopefully discuss possible project start dates and completion deadline. For residential jobs I collect a 20% to 50% down payment on the start day of the project based on the size and scope of the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked in construction off and on since I was 16 years old (30 plus years), with an emphasis on tile installation, but have had much on the job training from contractors, coworkers, and colleagues in multiple building trades. I have also been a student of older tried and true as well as newer methods. (For example, I have learned multiple methods for waterproofing showers and tub surrounds from various experts in the field)
