FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Dependent on the project, I can work with a fixed or hourly rate. Every video & budget is different and I'm very open to talking about the best rates for the project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always start with an initial phone conversation or email that outlines all of the details and needs of the project with the client. Once the project is explained fully, I outline a schedule and final quote that the client can approve. The next step is accessing and organizing the footage, audio, and image files used in the project. Once I've received all the finals I'll confirm with the client. Then the fun begins! Each editing project has its own challenges and starting points, but the next stage of the process is putting together the footage. Once the first draft is completed, I upload it to a private Vimeo page or on dropbox for the client to review. And then the revision process begins with the client as each new draft is uploaded according to the clients notes. When the final draft has been approved I most often upload 2 versions for the client -- a high-res file for presentation and a compressed file for digital upload. But that can vary on where and how the video will be used.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an MFA in Film Production from the Dodge College of Media Arts and am proficient in the entire Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. I have extensive experience in university promotional video editing, both for Oregon State University and Chapman University where I was lead editor in the marketing department. After leaving school, I've teamed up with numerous businesses and creative agencies in the Portland Oregon area to edit dynamic social media and promotional content. All together, I have over 10 years of experience in video editing, two of those years in a full time capacity.
