FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices are commensurate to the demands of the project. Some designs and illustrations are simpler and take less time, so they cost less. This is important to communicate during our initial correspondence or conversation. I will give a flat price for the job that will cover an ample amount of time. Sometimes, however, the client may need to go beyond the timing we allocate and we can revisit the payment and agree on a fair compensation moving forward.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Through an initial conversation or email correspondence, I will determine a total cost based on how much time the project will take. The deposit is due after we agree on the price and before the work begins, unless you're paying by check. The customer will then supply me with information, as detailed as possible, about their vision for the project. I will immediately get started on initial sketches and turn something around as quick as possible to make sure I'm on track. After initial sketches are approved, I will move forward with a refined version and color. We may have a few rounds of adjustments (or not) and when the customer is happy with the outcome, I will send a few files containing the artwork- jpg, pdf, png and/or whatever formats are needed. At that point the payment balance is due and the project is complete.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I got my start in the US Navy as an enlisted Illustrator/Draftsperson. After my tour ended, I attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, majoring in illustration in addition to several workshops and classes at various schools and organizations including the Animators Union in North Hollywood, CA. I also worked as a Digital Illustrator for the Walt Disney Company both on staff and as a contractor for over a decade. Other companies I provide freelance illustration support to include Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon, Dreamworks, ESPN, Cartoon Network and Penguin/Random House.
